Title: Portable Storage Auctions

Does anyone go to any of the portable storage auctions (UBOX, PODS, etc.) and if so, is the quality of merchandise any better?

Sounds good! I've been to a few and in my opinion, the quality seems to be about the same.

I've noticed that most of these containers are irregular sizes and they're usually are packed to the ceiling, so it can take a while to get a feel for how much merchandise is actually there.

bidders I've never seen and bidders that I only see when I travel far.  A few guys who acted like big shots.  Items in units all tossed and shaken around. PODS walls are white translucent so flashlight wasn't needed.  Most unites going for $6-800 more than is normal.  All the unites lined up next to each other so when everyone goes to empty them out its impossible.

I did snag a black sofa and love seat unit for $175.  might make another $50 in dvds and cd's but i'll be spending $40 atleast on dump fees.

I should think that it's the mode of operation of the business that determines what kind of customer make use of pods rather than the stationary storage units at a storage facility. People all have the same kind of things though! You're probably just as likely to get good stuff out of one of these as one of the traditional units!

For the most part I agree. I wonder if these companies have a problem with the pods being filled with trash. After all, they are a lot cheaper than having dumpster brought out and picked up.
