Hey there! I have been lurking here for a while and reading up on storage auctions. I plan on going to three auctions on friday and am pretty excited about it. My problem is that I am living in an apartment with very little storage space. I live just a block or so away from a storage complex and am thinking about renting a unit and doing all my craigslisting out of the unit. I wanted to see if anyone was successful in doing this business out of an apartment and any advice anyone may have. Thanks!

I would think you could be successful. You just to have a plan of attack and be organized. The smaller space you have to work with the more organized you have to be.Also when you aren't buying units explore the community( as you saidcraigslist is one resource),find resources you can use to sell and or donate your items.I think alot of people get antsy to get a unit but have no idea what they are going to do with the stuff when they get it.Good luck.Let everyone know how you are doing.

You can definitely run out of an apartment and a storage locker , We live in Duplex with a very A*** landlord and started out with a 10 X 20 unit and a trailer hitch on our car.
We would bring the goodies home and sort them in the back yard for that weekends flea market , or trash run . We now have two 10 X 30 contractor lockers W/ lights & Elec. along with a p/u truck , a one ton maxi van , a 7 X 12 ft. and a 18 ft. flatbed car hauler all stored in storage lots .
and only sell now on nice weather days ;D

More people than you thought of or can think of, for what ever reason rent a storage locker to do their sales out of. Just put that in the your cost pile. Dont rent the storage until after you get your first locker, if all possible, try to sell majority of the stuff (if time is alloted) from the same storage locker you win.

Check into flea markets around you. They can be great if you keep booths full. And at the same time you found a spot for stuff. Can still craiglist and ebay as well.
