How do you know if the owner of the storage facility hasn't already gone trough the storage unit before auction

You don't.

Yea you never know, over time you just learn which ones seem shady and you just stay away from them.

When the unit is so packed full you can't even climb over the top to get to what ever is stored in the back, then I would say the employees or the owner of the facility have not picked it clean of goodies. Thats just one of the reasons why I like totally stacked out units.
As far as finding the 'SHADY" locations, once you have been doing the auction circuit for a while you will find out from the "old timers" which facilities to steer clear of, or you will figure it out because none of the consistent regulars show up at certain facilities, or better yet you find out through experience.

depends on where you are at there are clues that will give that away dust on box's etc. in my area 90 days builds alot of dust in a lkr sometimes of year up to 1/4", so if someone touched it there would be hand prints or the dust dumped off the box also foot prints etc. spider webs are also a good indacation if you can tell one has been disturbed odds are the manager pulled something off top or out of the lkr that was not a large item.
But again this is why we bid only on what we see...

You don't.Sometimes you can look and it seems staged.
