So, remember all of those computers we find inside storage units and thought they had no value?  :-[ Well I guess it's time to start checking the hard drives to see if they contain Bitcoins.

How would one even do that? Is it like an installed program?

The chances are slim.  Bitcoins are like cash.  He who holds, owns.  People create paper wallets out side their systems.  Third party, cloud, on flash drive.

No one wants it on their system because if it crashes, breaks, is stolen they are gone.   Plus if your hacked, and people using bitcoins aren't going to the nicest of websites, your out.

If it is on system then its most likely encrypted.  Partitioned on drive with separate password.  Even if you find the folder its unlikely your going to get into it.

Now what you may want to look for is programs.  things like photoshop and music producing software people left of hard drive.  Can be tricky to pull off but for $700 software its worth the time.

I don't look to hard.  Mostly I come across PC's that are so old the software isn't compatible.   But it is fun to search thru pictures and what not.....

It's a bitcoin wallet program referred to as a paperwallet. Anyone who's not an idiot will have their key on a zipdrive and not the hard drive and even if it is on the hardrive it should be password protected. what you could do is use computers you find as mining machines but they would have to have good graphics cards unless you wanna mine some of the less popular coins and do cpu mining as opposed to gpu mining

i have a few grand worth of bitcoins and i keep mine on 3 backups so for someone to have millions and have it on a zipdrive they throw away...like i said only an idiot lol.

i also find stories like this hard to believe. so many times these stories are featured or any viral story for that matter it turns out to be false. this guy has a sad story and throws out his bitcoin address and all these people who feel bad for him toss him free bitcoins or some travel company who accepts bitcoins for free press offers the guy a free vacation. maybe im pessimistic but these stories always strike me as fake
