Tips for moving your merchandise

Do you have any tips for moving your merchandise. Is there a method to your madness when cleaning out a storage unit. Do you pack things in your truck a certain way? What goes in first / last? How do you protect your merchandise from being damaged?

I guess I would take anything valuable first. Following that, I would take the big stuff in a truck and pack the little stuff in my SUV.
