to have good credit now? There were a few people that called in today on the radio that chimed in after hearing the story on our mad monday. If you dont have good credit some storage companys will refuse to rent to people now. And I bet its because of these silly mornoic storage shows that people are in love with. :-*

The irony is that due to the shows less and less people are defaulting on their storage units. I guess in the past people didn't believe it would really happen, and now they see it for themselves and do believe it! LOL

The facilities that are requiring credit checks must have an incredibly high occupancy rate. Most facilities couldn't get away with this because they need every customer they can get.

Really, did you ever do the math? Most sites around here have like 200 units on the average, with an average of $75 a month per unit. That's $15K a month income assuming full occupancy.

In my area the managers tell me they are at 85% occupancy. One facility has VERY FEW available lockers while another has MANY. They pretty much have the same rates but are in different parts of town and the larger one has more empty units.

It all has to do with location, size of the facility, amenities, pricing, etc. Here in Texas, land is cheap, so they build large facilities with lots of units.
