Title: What have you heard others say when they're trying to talk down a unit?
Post by: Travis on October 01, 2013, 08:09:16 AM
What have you heard others say when they're trying to talk down a unit?

I heard a good one recently.

There was a 42" flat screen TV box on top of some bags of clothing. This guy said, "the TV isn't in the box, nobody would store a TV like that on it's side." Of course, he was one of the highest bidders.

On a different unit. These other people kept complaining about how bad the unit smelled like cat urine. Apparently the smell didn't bother them too much considering they bought the unit.

"Look at that furniture it looks like it's all pressboard cheap stuff", when in reality it was good quality furniture. Another favorite people like to say is, "OMG, look at all that stuff in there it's going to take a week to clean it out."

One of the big wigs around here always jumps out of the way of bugs. Spiders and roaches to be specific. It's all bulldookie, but it's good theater.

Pretty much "Look at that cheap particle board furniture" "Those bags are all filled with dirty clothes" "Look at the way they pilled all that garbage in there."

Actually the trying to talk down units isn't all that bad what really pisses me off are the goofballs who see good stuff in units and start calling it out. Sometimes it's people who don't know any better or Lookie Loos, but other times it's people who know the unit will probably go higher then they can afford so they think it's funny or cool to start pointing out all the quality items in the unit so the bidding will go even higher. I guess I should put this in a post called "What have you heard others say when they are trying to talk up a unit?"

Just the day, we are all looking at a locker, we all see the gun case in the back, we all know its there....

AND THEN.........................

some new guy who I think was methed out states... "I WONDER WHAT KIND OF GUN IS IN THAT CASE!!!"

Manager walks in and says; I thought it was a bow case..." He walks in pops the case takes out an older 30-30 and walks to the office.

Needless to say, none of us were happy with that outcome...

LEARN TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love to point out the cost of dump fees. Around here the worst thing is the dump fees for things like mattresses and couches. Upholstered chairs are $10.00, couches are $20.00, mattresses are $25.00 and god forbid you have to junk a hide-a-bed you get charged for both $45.00. Most of the time newbies run from such things.

Same here, I don't think I've thrown away more than a few mattresses. There is always someone looking for something basic to sleep on. I sell average mattresses for $75. Good ones, 100 and up. And they sell faster than margaritas at a Jimmy Buffet concert. Heck, I would go into the used mattress business if I could get a steady supply.

Then you should come and work in my neck of the woods. I would say 9 out of 10 units around here have at least one or more mattresses in them.

I always bring up the, I see bed bugs and mice in this unit.  It works good if you just bring up seeing mice droppings.
