Anyone sell more of certain items during income tax season? If so, let us know.

A few years back I was selling a car on Craigs List. Nothing was happening for about a month, then suddenly I was getting calls on it. Turns out people were getting their tax refunds. Sold the car pretty quick once refunds were sent out.

I've sold a few cars around tax season, and your're right, they do sell well. Especially cars under 5K. I've had good luck getting rid of patio furniture this month, but it was spring break, relatively good weather and the items were priced to sell quickly.

I agree that cars get sold rather quickly during tax refunds season. I had a similar experience previously when my car was put in storage because it was put on sale for too long. Then, I got a few offers and I finally sold it off. I wonder if the property market is affected during the tax refunds season, or not at all?

I'm sure some people use it for a down payment on real estate purchases, but I would imagine that most people use their tax refunds to buy used cars, computers, TVs, etc. or to pay off credit card debt.

As a former real estate appraiser, I never noticed a surge in appraisal orders during tax season; however, we would see a slight rise in home equity loans right after Christmas.

Generally, tax season is the best time to sell furniture, especially your nicer pieces. Tax season was really flat this year for furniture though. Don't know what's up with that.
