Lately, I've noticed several storage facilities in Texas that are holding their online auctions pursuant to Massachusetts storage lien laws. The legal notices begins like this:

In accordance with the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 105-A, _______ Storage will hold a public auction online at:

How can a Texas facility have a lien sale pursuant to another states lien laws? Their corporations aren't set up in Massachusetts, and the lien originated in Texas. The parties to the lien are Texas businesses and Texas residents. So how can they do this? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Perhaps the network server company is based in MA, making the physical presence there.

That's a logical answer, but it looks like the server for the online storage auction service they're using is located at a Godaddy data center in Phoenix, AZ.

I dunno, then perhaps the owner's registered personal address is in MA. Email them and ask if it's getting under your craw.

Another good answer, but there are several tenants listed in the notice and what are the odds that they're all from Massachusetts?
