Title: Unit full of bikinis
Post by: pickergirl on March 02, 2015, 10:52:56 PM
Ok, I'm not even trying to be funny here.  This unit has a few nice pieces of small furniture, a crock pot, college text books, and a few boxes FULL of bikinis.  And hooters t-shirts and shorts.  I was going to toss the bikinis, because I would never want to buy a used one, but I looked on Ebay, and there are lots out there, with bids on them.  Anyone have any luck with this type of thing?
While we're on the subject, all three of my latest units had dressers and boxes full of lingerie.  I'm assuming if people will buy used bikinis, they'll buy used lingerie?  I haven't checked ebay for that.  That's my next look up

Keep this thought in mind when selling: For everything there is a buyer, for the right price.

:iagree: The thought of bikinis half off is quite appealing.  :celebrate:

But seriously, you'd be amazed at what others will buy. When having my weekly garage sales, it wasn't uncommon for people to buy bikinis and lingerie. Heck, even the nicer underwear would sell.

This is going to sound sick, but it's true. LOTS of people LOVE to buy used women's underwear, bra's, etc. In fact, I once sold a bunch of used stripper high heels to a guy who told me that he just likes to smell them! I kid you not!

People are weird. No offense if you're into that, but... like alloro said "For everything, there is a buyer".

Weird stuff I've sold includes:

8" of hair from a dead lady - got $130 for it on buyandsellhair.com
Used "clothing"
Used "toys"

I really don't remember it all, but think of it this way. If someone bought it once, someone else will buy it again, even if it's 'slightly' used.  Sometimes they'll pay more if it's 'excessively' used.

Hair from a dead lady is creepy, but how are toys and clothing weird?

I was trying to be sly, but I meant used sex toys and used lingerie.

I have no idea if people will buy it.  That’s an interesting find you have there.  I’d like to know what the person was doing with all that stuff.

Perhaps the tenant was a Hooters girl or a bikini model.

There are a lot of kinky people out there my friend! Haha! While us normal people think that it's gross and totally unhygienic, there are those weird fellows out there who really enjoy that kind of thing. In any case, it's another dollar in your pocket…

I personally would never buy used swimgear but I suppose platos closet probably sells some used suits if they are brand names. I would say if its hooters or a hot brand keep them otherwise toss them in the trash or put them in a quarter bin at the flea market. I suppose you could also market it to the same crowd who buys used womens panties

You know, Plato's Closet has really come a a long way in the past decade. Who would think that a resale shop could franchise over 400 locations and be ranked the #1 franchise investment by Forbes Magazine in the $150,001 - $500,000 category?

I like the concept, but man are they picky about what they buy. If it's not the latest and greatest in young men's & women's fashion, don't expect to get a dollar from them.

Actually, the girl who owned the unit was a Hooters girl.  I found about 20 Hooters uniforms, as well.  I've been sick since March, so haven't gotten to list anything within these units, just starting that process now.  I'm curious to see what everything goes for.  I'll keep you posted.

Yup I totally agree that there are and will definitely be people who are willing to buy those used bikinis and lingerie. It is not uncommon these days especially with online platforms that hide the buyer’s true identity behind virtual anonymity. Hence, I think the contents of your storage units will fetch quite a sum of money indeed.

I know I'm quite late in this thread but just wanted to chime in. I used to be an eBay seller around 8 years back selling lingerie. I used to receive many requests for used panties with urine smell in them. I never obliged although I could have earned a lot of money as their offers were in $100-500 range.

So why not sell them? Who care what someone else's fetish is, this is business.
