Bought 2 large units at the same online auction
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:13:30 AM »
Well, my grandfather made me promise him that I would drop a few pounds so I committed to building a home gym. Knowing that I can get anything I want for free in a storage unit, I waited for a fitness equipment unit to come along and it finally did.

The only bad part about the situation was that the unit I was interested in was located in Dallas (About 200 miles away from me.) The moving expenses alone would be around $500 between truck rental, labor, gas, food, etc. The moving costs would have ate up a lot of my profit so I looked at buying another unit to offset the cost. There was another really nice furniture/appliance unit with lots of high end boxes and bags and I figured I could make some money on that unit if I got it for the right price.

I placed my bids and got lucky and won both units for about 2 grand. I was pretty happy about this since I got them for about $500 below my cap. Both units are 10X25's about 3/4 full. Anyway, I'm heading to Dallas in the morning to pick the stuff up. I'll post photos of the units and anything else interesting I find on Thursday. Until then...

ANY fitness equipment you need just let me know. I will send it Greyhound so the shipping will be reasonable. Fitness Equipment doesn't sell for SQUAT around here! I think the obesity rate is 47% (no kidding)!  :-\

The units I bought turned out great. I filled up a 26 U-Haul to the ceiling. I even had to leave a bunch of stuff behind...enough to fill a 10X10.

Apparently, the guy that had the fitness equipment was some sort of martial arts expert. The facility manager said he was very wealthy and from what I can tell from the furniture, he was right. I won't bore you all with the details but this guy had so much money, all his curtain rod holders were made of granite and marble.

The really cool part..I got a majority of the stuff from his dojo. All his work out equipment, boxing equipment, lots of weapons, an electric massage table and lots of incredible Broyhill furniture.

And last but not least, over 100 huge.....http://storageauctionforums.com/whats-it-worth/are-trophies-worth-anything/

Better hope he doesn't come looking for his stuff! :)
