Title: Online auctions
Post by: bwd111 on December 28, 2013, 02:44:11 PM
I just jacked up the bid on an online auction in my state with no intent of wanting to buy, and people still love to outbid on pure juck! I bid up to over 700 on trash and people are still bidding! I love it

Seems easier to do with online auctions. Happens a lot around here too.

Be careful, you might end up getting stuck with a unit you don't want. Storage Battles will ding your credit card for the full amount, buyer's premium and fees if you don't pay the facility.

It might just be me but that doesn't make any sense to bid strangers up online.  There is no real upside and plenty of downsize.

I've never bid anyone up online or at a live sale. Just doesn't make sense. We're all out there trying to make some money. If others are running up the units, we all suffer in the long run.

I don't run the bid up, I just bid up to my budget. I'm the kind of guy that thinks that anybody who spends over my budget is a dumbass. lol

I second that.

Running a stranger up on a unit with no intention to buy said unit seems like a d-bag move to me.  coming online to brag about it just reinforces my opinion.

I, for one, think my time is far more valuable than that.

Now, getting into a bidding war because it is still within your budget on a unit you think you can make a profit from?  No problems there.

I sort of agree.  While running up prices does happen in real life, that usually a strategic move of some sorts.  Online auctions it really should only happen if there's a genuine "bidding war" for a unit.  Otherwise yeah.....
