Title: Nice pick
Post by: Alias300 on October 06, 2013, 07:46:18 PM
Picked this today for $10.
Beautiful hammer formed copper with dovetail joints, copper rivets and forged handle.
Thing weighs over 10 pounds. Stands about 20" and 14" diameter (Estimate, haven't measured)

Sorry, picture doesn't do it justice.  It looks all flat but has a perfect hammered texture. And not nearly as dull as it looks.  Really nice, shiny, patina.  All even, no streaks.

What do you think I should put as a starting price?

Oh.....Also got a yogurt maker for $3.  Because I like yogurt.

Without knowing provenance, I would put a price of $80-$100 to start. Being that it's hammered, I would expect that it's more of a dairy bucket, or something that was more for household use. If it were a fireman's bucket, that's big money.

Yeah, I searched it high and low for any sign of a mark.  Nothing.

Can't find anything similar online.   Some close but prices are all over. Average is in the $75-$125 range.

Unfortunately my laziness causes me to look at it as a 'no F'n way am I shipping that' item so CL it is.

Might be a good thing.  First, I don't know much about it so ebay discription wouldn't be very inticing. Second, picturs don't do it justice.  I think someone seeing it in person will love it....if I can get good enough pictures to get them out to see it, that is.
