Actually chatted with the guy on Facebook. He said his biggest fear was just going up to a house and ask a stranger if he can pick through their yard or barn. I don't think I have the guts to do it.

I wish someone would knock on my door and ask to pick my place. I've got several thousand dollars worth of merchandise laying around that I haven't had time to post on Craigslist or eBay.

You need an eBay trader to do the work for you. That's what I would do just to clear some of the clutter.
