For those of Us that go to Auction Zip .com , they have a new Forum with a Storage Auction section .
One poster stated that He bought a " Nice " 10 X 20  " CONSIGNMENT " (the owners didn't want to ship the contents up North )   unit for $ 600. only to find out it was filled with crap , and another couple stopped  and told Him that they had paid $ 800. the month before for the same crap and walked away .
Being a Honest , Buyer , He asked to rent the unit to have time to clean it out , only to be told that it was not available  for rent ,  the renter fills it up and has them sell the contents  for her, but He could rent him another unit .
He later discovered that it is the Auctioneer's SISTER that rents the locker .                                          The Comments are very interesting
Movie Man , do You know of a  Tom Litton ?
There are several auctioners and storage owners posting
Tom Litton from Stockton , ca.
  Jim Ford from Tx.
  Charles Bevard from Md.
  William F Burke
   Charles Brobst  from Alaska

I just attended an Auction and I bought what turns out to be a total setup unit.We were told the unit was on consignment from out of state ,meaning it was not in default but the people wanted thier stuff sold at auction rather than have it shipped up north. the room was staged nicely a 10x20 packed with boxes misc items of interest out in the open everything I could see implied an older couple furniture from the 70's newspapers dated 1970's ,box of international travel magazines ,I was happy to win the bid at $600 after I began to clean out I began to see it was a bunch of crap, packed around a few decent items and also I began to see multiple names on mail, this was not one persons unit ,this was a bunch of crap packed into this unit with the intent to deceive. As I continued to pack my box truck I meet the couple who bought this very same unit the month before unit number F2 ,they paid $800 and found junk like me they suspected foul play. Then when I relized i would not be able to get it all unpacked in one trip I went to rent the unit for a month,I was told that I could rent another unit but not that one, come to find out a lady keep that unit rented
and would pack it and then sell it.and after looking into it futher a staff member let it slip that it was the sister of the auctioneer. At this point I knew I was screwed .
I ended up cherry picking what was left in the unit and left the rest [something I never do.]

The 72 hour mad dash for the cash , was filmed over a 3 week period .
Jimmy Dorsey along with the rest of the crew was never paid , unlike the Hoffmans who were  well compensated before they even left home .
When Jimmy asked the Discovery Channel where His Money was ?  They replied No Signed Contract , No Money .  =  Not bound to keep His Mouth Shut , with the end result being , His Blog

Ps
  The best part
The Lady that got the unit across from Me for $ 80. walked over and asked if We had bought lockers before ?  and How did We ever get rid of the stuff ?                                                                 As She was going through the boxes and 6 or so Bags and trash barrels  of clothes She had won. This was her second purchase as She had also won one last month for a little over $ 400 with household goods and boxes of base ball cards and had only been able to sell $ 22. worth of the " GOODIES " at  yard sale's on the main road she lives on  .
I mentioned donating some of it for the write off and she replied that it's all common stuff and nobody wants it .  ::)
There was ONE locker at the next place in the town she lived in  about 20 mi. away , She wasn't going and neither were  We , ( not worth it for one locker )  but the other 30+ did .

I was just wondering if anyone on here has been burned on Fee Bay , at one of the local auction houses We attend on a regular basis , some of the regulars who were Raving about Fee Bay last Jan. have now been scammed out of there items and cash , one for the item and $ 1500. and have No recourse and really downing Fee Bay .
I know the scammed discussions are all over the fee bay community discussion forums , but this is the first We have heard right from the horses mouth .

Lets Pretend this is Fox News , I'll Post , You Decide .
Like a lot of others on here , We store our finds away from our real address , 45 min. away in our case . We have two 12 X 30 ft. lockers w/lights and elect .
back a few months ago we were cleaning and organizing them , when people started stopping and looking in and asking if this was the Auction ???  NO
Turns out thy were having an auction , but only advertise in the local paper .             An old guy stuck his head in and said , it looks like You two do the same thing I do . He scored two and told us He got one the other day at the one with the TV Film Crew there ? ( I think He said it was in Boylston or West Boylston , Mass. not sure )
Told us  the pro's from Ca. won a locker for $ 2600 .                                              After everyone left ,  He was emptying out His Locker ( near there's ) and they were in there locker re-shooting the auction again   ,   This Time They WON IT for             $ 4200.
He couldn't tell Us who they were , as he doesn't watch TV .
We went to a new to us country auction ( went two or three times last year ) and someone asked the auctioneer  about the TV shows .
He was there bidding against them , they bragged ,  We have  the money and were getting all the good ones , you locals might as well go home .
The locals pushed them up on every locker , in the end three of them Pooled there money and they took the best locker from them .
He said it was TON and His Skinny Little  Friend .
  Bob
I want to say again , We were not there , this is all 2nd. , hand info ,                        but I wish We had been     ;)

Flea Markets / Checked out a Summer Tourist Flea
« on: July 14, 2011, 10:59:06 AM »
I we flipped a coin and headed to the tip of Cape Cod saturday to check out a flea market (same milage to  Cape Cod   and /or  Old Orchid Beach Maine ) We stopped  selling there 10 yrs. ago , saw some old friends , prices  at a new low .                           Ex.  leather belts use to be from $ 10 to $ 14 now all  @ $ 4.00  ( same mfg's as before , Sunglasses   $ 4 to $ 6 .  .
There were only about 75 dealers    but Sun.  they were expecting over 250 and a big crowd .
What We noticed was that NO One was carrying any purchases , Daughter went to buy me a water at the snack bar $ 3.00 , no thanks , We left for fried Clams down the street .
Will have to head Down to Maine in two weeks to check one out there .
Can't do it this weekend as We Leaving in an Hour to go take down one of our 20 X 20 tents and set it up  at Brimfield for the wife .

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / Hi From Mass.
« on: July 12, 2011, 08:02:17 PM »
Hi We are Bob , Claire , and Cheryl .
We started going to storage auction's in 1990 when a fellow vendor  at a flea market in Maine sold our 5 yr . old daughter a duffel bag full of camping gear ( New Tent and Sleeping Bag , Axe , Stakes , and  Cooking Gear etc. ) for $ 5.00 , told Us it came from a storage locker , and invited Us to the next auction  .
Ron Maynard was just getting His " Storage Auctions Solutions " auction business off the ground , and there were usually the same 4 to 6 bidders and Us at every auction .
We didn't push them up on lockers that We knew they wanted , and they returned the favor by often asking if We wanted this one and then All walking away leaving the three of Us and the Auctioneer standing there .                                                                                                                 As they say the rest is history .  We do it now off and on , but have pulled back do to the unreal crowds and insane prices caused by the TV shows.
Our Biggest haul was 3 lockers by the same owner , a trucking Co. a used office furniture store, and a used furniture store .   for $ 175 ,    ( made that back off the other dealers ) they gave Us a month to clean it out , plus two more lockers for $ 5.00 ea. got 5 new appliance dolly's and 26 new furniture dolly's for a starter .
Our Best moment   was when We traveled to Ca. ,Az, and Nm. for the winter and hit a few local auctions , One of the BIG Auctioneer's that travels all over the country  selling for one company and is in Boston often , walked by Us in Az. and said Hi Bob , Hi Claire , We said Hi Tom , He walked about 10 more feet and whipped around with His jaw dropped . LOL
  Ps.
The Star Actors on Forbidden Storage / Storage Hunters on TRU-TV  were our neighbors before moving to the Left Coast . But I have no comments for a public forum

Did anyone watch this show  last  week ?  it is back on again tonight , Tues.
I am holding back My comments on this show , till I see what others think , as the two stars lived across the street  from Me before they moved to Ca. to become " TV Stars "
