I have learned not to go to any sales listed on Craigslist!

I've done alright with CL listed sales. I think you have to pay attention to what they're listing and check any pics to get an idea if it's worth your time or not.

Last weekend, we hit a sale and picked up a few cool pieces. All vintage soda/beer stuff. Not big money-makers, but still good merch. The gentleman used to do resale, so a lot of his stuff was right up my alley. The cool thing is, he's only three blocks away, so I may knock on his door sometime.

I bet they dont even work in there stores hardley ever! They probably hire workers and just check on the store here and there. From a tv show to selling stuff in our store would be a downer.

Maybe, but that is what all small retailers strive for. At one of my jobs, I ran a small store with about 4 others and the owner put in about 10-15 hours per week.

And, no, he didn't have a reality show.   ;)

Flea Markets / Re: Liability Insurance?

Any update on the Flea Market that requires Liability Insurance ?
Or did they fall flat on there face ?

To be honest, I hadn't been paying attention. After reading your post, I hit google and checked a couple of other places online and could not find anything about this new flea.

So, either they crapped-out before even really starting OR they are horrible at promoting themselves.

I have also found several other local fleas that we need to shop to see what they're about. There is one that offers free "lawn" spaces the first weekend of each month, but that one is a pretty good drive, so we'll see. Plus, I imagine, you would have to get there around 9pm the night before to get a spot.   :P

All those boxes to dig in.  Would of meant a good 2 - 3 days worth of searching with the kids.

Just curious. Do you "screen" the boxes before the kids dig in? Just to make sure there isn't any porn/toys/drug stuff?

Seems like it could lead to some good-ol' awkwardness.

How did it go Matches?

We did not attend any Estate sales. Did go to the equipment auction. Takes all day if you buy something. Husband does really well there.  :).  Only bad part over half of what we spend is for things around our farm. LOL

We got fence post for .50 a piece Retail is $7.50 each. we are going to sell half of them and use the other half so we will be getting our fence for free.  ;D

Waiting for an update  ;)

Well, the first one I was planning on attending has been pushed back until March, so I still haven't been to one.

There are two this weekend that I may be able to attend, but we will see. I will certainly report on my experiences.  :)

Yep, pretty funny stuff. Actually, that would be a problem for you and I (torn box) but it really doesn't mean anything to him. He's in it for the fun at his age.

I fully agree, but my wife and I always talk about how he just trashes the stuff in his units. The sewing machine box, followed by his comment, was just a priceless example.

Jarrod and wife are trying to make a living; Darrell's been doing it for years but probably still needs to make money at it; Dave ?  Wonder how his auction house is doing?  I like Barry and Jarrod/Brandi the best.

Barry is the most fun to watch. Jarrod and Brandi are the ones I find myself rooting for.

Best moment of the night:

After ripping a box apart to get at a sewing machine, Barry says "It's new... in the box"

Pan down to said destroyed box.   :D

Oh come on Matches~I thought you were gonna tell me you found a gallery to buy my Toulouse Lautrec.  I was ready with my tinfoil hat again!

Tee-hee.   ;)

Actually, there is collector value for old certificates. I doubt ATT is all that valuable, as I'm sure they were about as common as dollar bills, but someone will buy them off you.

P.S- I just checked e-bay and a 1963 Pepsi stock certificate in good condition has a bid on it at $9.80. Obviously, condition matters.

Good luck!!

Ok, here's all I'm gonna say advice wise. I follow wall street, so when you mentioned stock certificates, I was interested.

Have someone look into this. The shares may not be transferable based on posession of the certificates, but I don't know.

Here's why you need to have a professional check into these shares. I could only find data going back to 1984 (The break-up of Ma Bell), but since then, ATT has split on three occassions, which would makes those 9 shares into 108 shares today at ~$30/share or about $3,200. While this is awesome, this doesn't include any splits from 1962 to 1984, nor does it include any spin-off shares from when Ma Bell was broken up into the Baby Bells.

Don't plan your retirement just yet, as I doubt you will actually get these shares, but the potential is big enough that you HAVE TO follow up.

Good luck!!

The antique the lady was using as a dresser is a side board.
Found on identical to the one we got for sale on local classified for $2000.

Is this the freebie that they threw in?? If so, then that is awesome.

You should certainly make some money. I'm sure as you try to figure what you can sell this stuff for, you're realizing that this is no way to get rich quick, but with some effort, can be a way to make some money.

Keep at it and let us know how things go on the sell-side.

Sounds like a winner and have fun!!  Reminds me since locker prices are soaring, perhaps I should rethink my pickin'.

Lately, we've only been picking. Trying to pick our way to a bigger bankroll and get to the point where we can handle the volume of storage units.

Figure we'll do this for now and by the time we're ready for storage auctions, we'll be better prepared and, hopefully, the crowds will settle down a bit.

What I really need help with are the outdoor tools. They seem too good to be true. I mean $10 each for things that cost hundreds of dollars. I dunno... Even if they don't work, I was wondering if they'd have any scrap or parts value. Most of these prices seem too good to be true, but with the storage auction prices as high as they are, I don't know if I can pass this up.

You'll need to use your best judgement when your actually looking at and touching these pieces. Sometimes, people need to clear space quickly and we can seek something mutually beneficial. In this case, cheap re-sales goods.

One thing I wanted to mention. My wife and I recently went to a freebie blowout we found on CL. The best pieces were gone by the time we got there, but there was still plenty to be had, including two Quaker Oats bowls that sell for about $8-12 each on Ebay. Don't overlook the mugs/bowls/glasses. Focus on subject matter and use your best judgement. At those prices, take all the small wins you can get!

Wish I could join ya. Seems to be some good stuff to be had. $10 neon... I'm jealous.  ;)
