I guess their paying sponsors so give them a thread but I don't see those threads generating much discussion, really what is there to talk about?

Just seems like you gotta scroll that much further down the page to see other stuff.

Just came across this the other day. It's an old Chicago Faucet Company bathroom faucet. Still has the origional tag attached to it.

Really cool faucet, thinking I'm probably going to put it in my house rather than sell it but just curious what it's worth and the history behind it?

Through doing a little research I've found people are paying a fortune for newer remakes of ones like this.

Okay not exactly a product your going to get at a storage auction but just on the offchance someone has land, knows of someone who has land or has any ideas or suggestions I'm looking to buy some land in one of the states listed above, preferably Michigan but open to the others.

Basically just want some land to build a shipping container home, have some toys 4 wheelers or whartever and basically just have a spot I can go to on the weekends. Preferably some place that's pretty lax on zoning and thinsg like that as I've yet to find anywhere near me that will allow a storage container home.

I imagine someone will ask what that is so here...

Spotcoolstuffdesign - 5 Cool buildings made of shipping containers

Basically want a spot where no one will bother me, no HOA, where I can have bonfires, have some junk cars in my yard, have a few toys, be loud, etc.

eBay / Re: Nice little article on eBay.
« on: March 12, 2011, 01:36:51 PM »
I would say ebay is a necessary evil. I'm careful about what I list, basically if I'm not going to be okay with getting screwed out of my money and my product so nothing over $100 for the most part. I won't list it as anyone who sells a decent amount of stuff on ebay will have this happen to them at some point or another.

eBay / Do you leave feedback immediately upon recieving payment?
« on: March 12, 2011, 01:34:56 PM »
Just curious if others out there leave feedback immediately or wait for buyers to leave you feedback?

I used to leave feedback immediately upon buyers paying as they held up their part of the deal but I found only about 10% of buyers ever actually bother leaving feedback.

I was going to start not leaving feedback unless buyers do the same. Anyone do this and if so do you find more people leave you feedback?

I know lots of people who would pay for this service so it's a good idea.

I don't know of any old timers who would pay for a service like this though. Also, personally I don't see any reason to go more than 20 min from my home, more than enough facilities and auctions in that radius and its not difficult to keep up with that so I personlaly would never pay for info.

These auctions hold no interest for me. I'm not even gonna bother checking the site but I iamgine little to no trafic.

Also, its great to learn about new resources to explore but when your first nad only post is a spam post I don't really even care to look into the site. I imagine we'll probabl ynever see you back posting on here again either.

Suggestion Center / Re: Sponsor threads

That makes perfect sense. Just figured if someone buys a list from someone or some type of inventory system or how to guide they should be able to tell others if they are happy or unhappy with the product.

Btw, like the new header

Any amazon sellers on here? If so you may also be an amazon affiliate member. In my state of Illinois they recently cancelled the program b/c Pat Quinn passed a internet sales tax law today.

It's really stupid. Long story short before IL made no sales tax off amazon but did make income tax off affiliates. Now they will still no longer make any sales tax and since the affiliate program is cancelled they also won't make income tax off affiliate members.

On top of this the whole thing is unconstitutional as there was a supreme court case involving Quill Office Supplies where it was determined catalogues and essentially websites aren't considered brick and mortar locations and need not pay sales tax.

This is comming to 13 other states so if you are an amazon affiliate and don't want this to happen make your voice heard.

Suggestion Center / Sponsor threads
« on: March 10, 2011, 06:32:45 PM »
I havn't been on in a week or two but just noticed the sponsor threads. I dont know who the sponsors are and woudln't see any reason to bash them but you said something about don't say anything negative about them.

Just a thought but you don't want people afraid to make honest critiques about a sponsors website or product. Imagine if Ford sponsored consumer reports. They woudln't give honest reviews.

I can't see any situation where someone would be bashing a sponsor and probably woudln't be an issue but if someone buys lists from someone or buys a how to storage auction guide from someone they should be allowed to give an  honest critique assuming they are reasonable and things they say are true.

I don't think it's going to get any better anytime soon.

Sure tax refunds put a little bit of money in everyones pockets so maybe drives prices up slightly but I don't htink that has a huge affect.

When the second season of storage wars comes back things are only going to get worse again imho

How bout a cartoon for hubby, wife, toddler, baby and double stroller lol. Gotta love the double strollers in narrow indoor hallways.

Donate it to Goodwill and take the tax write off for the full value. Helps reduce your overall tax burden and gets the stuff off your hands fast.

In addition, not many people here mention the whole sales tax thing but I sure hope all the serious buyers have resale certificates and are NOT paying sales tax on the lockers?

Some good donations throughout the year really help make the business tax return look solid and avoid audits
Not to mention that you will be writing off all your fuel, facility's rent, truck and other asset depreciation and much more if you have a solid business CPA

Not sure if my states laws are different or if it's just that nobody follow them but only recently did I even encounter an auction where they collected sales tax and it's only one auctioneer in particular that charges sales tax in my area.

Subscribe to my youtube channel and or blog and leave a comment with the state, city, region, etc that you want and I'll post a few auctions for that area.

Other Forms of Selling / Another source of Junk Silver
« on: March 06, 2011, 01:29:19 PM »
I know alot of you guys like coins, silver, junk silver, etc. I've been buying cases of half dolllars from my bank. They didn't used to charge at all, now they charge if they have to order but not if they have them on hand.

Anyhow, most tend to be newer but any pre 1964 go for about $11.88 on ebay, spot rate probably worth slightly.

Anyhow, next time your at your local bank branch it's worth checking.
