Three auctions coming up - one single and one a "brother & sister" caravan.  With all the rain in the Mid-South, I hope I can either find a locker with hip waders, or the auctioneer is named Noah so I can borrow his ark!  Good luck to everyone.  ;)

Whoever said "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain" didn't live around here!

I GOT BLISTERS ON ME FINGAS!!!

He must've been working in a storage unit before recording that track  ;)

And Ringo wrote a song about the storage auction business called "It Don't Come Easy!" :D

As of Friday, 3/9/12 still have issues previewing my post.  It will post just fine, but the "preview" function does not work for me.

For what it's worth, my "quote" function works just fine - my issue is the message preview function.

Congrats Austin - now the real fun begins!!

The boardies around here will respond to you and be quite helpful and maybe a little snarky, but give them more than two hours early in the morning.  ;)

Hey Matches, wasn't he the drummer for the Beatles - Richard Snarky!!   ;D

Found out what the barrels are. Advertising props from the liqour store. Damn things dont even hold water! lol

And no. I got the coupons by going to the coffee shop and grabbing the insert everyone tossed to the side. And online. I am stocked up on canned tomato products and cambells soup.....I may have gone a little overboard in those departments.  ::)

Good score on the barrels and the groceries.  Next let's see your $30,000 "stash" in your pantry!!   :D :D

Not bad prices there Cheesehead.  The 1st unit would of gone for close to $100 or more in my area cuz of the kids guitar.  Don't know why people go nuts over them.

Second unit for $145 is a decent buy IMO.  Has a good chance to make a profit on it.

This is a little out-of-the-way privately owned facility that has auctions about every three months.  The place is always clean, the owners are always friendly, and the crowds/prices seem to be decent.  Just too bad there were only two lockers.  Guess the only good factor is since I am in a more rural part of the country, the crowds are 20-50 and not 100+  Of course, I have an outhouse, and my cell phone is a tomato can and string, but hey, you can't have everything!! :D

Must have been time for a family outing.  At today's auction, this family piled out of their mini-van and signed up for the festivities.  Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, and kids!  (Four in the photo - two more kiddies got out of the van when the auction started)  Never saw a Mom.

PEOPLE - what on earth compels you to bring the whole "fam damily" to a storage auction!!??  Then the six kids proceeded to push their way to the front of each locker and scream "Daddy, there's a saw!!!" or "Papa, there's toys in here - good ones!!!"  The (so called) adults just stood back and admired their offspring!!   Then when Daddy would make a bid, one child about 7(??) would scream - "You gonna get this one Daddy!!??  Bid more, bid more, don't let that old guy get it!!"  (I kid you not, and the other bidder wasn't too amused).  All told they had nine people there.  Geez...  ???

Auction this morning -

Good news - only about 20 people, 13 bidders
Bad news - what started out as 10 lockers at close of biz Friday turned into 2 lockers at 8am this morning.

Comments from the morning:
Another buyer:  (as I was walking up) "There's two people inside paying up, and that's not good!"
Facility Owner - "We've never had 8 people come in and pay up at the last minute like this.  You can tell it's tax season."
Another buyer  (to toddler son):  GET YOUR A$$ BACK IN THAT STROLLER MISTER!!"

The two units went for $45 (mostly empty with a microwave, broken mirror, beat up table, box of toys, and a couple tattered suitcases) and $145 (three old Singer sewing machines, mattress, some furniture, and a couple rusty two-man cross-cut saws).  Guy that won thought he could clean up the saws, get the sewing machines working and make some money.

Congratulations on a great unit.  You should be able to sell the fabric on eBay.  I have a friend who sells that stuff (bulk thread, fabric, misc.) and makes good dough.  There's actually a pretty good market for it.   ETSY is another good place to sell fabric.  Good luck - looking forward to updates!

Just following up on suggestions of "how to sell thread."  Here's a buddy of mine and his latest listing.  Thought this might help a little.  Will post more when I find more.

We have an auction next week where the legal notice reads --->  "Units will not be opened or viewed until time of sale."

Nice.  There are 10 units available, which means there will be one or two come auction time :-[

Craigslist / Re: Are CL buyers really nuts or what?

I had a lady drive 5 hours/200 miles to come and buy an appliance off of me. Now that's nuts!

Wow, congratulations on that sale.  What did you do, advertise the appliance as "gold plated?"
