Surprisingly, these guys don't sound bitter about the effect the tv shows have had on the biz.

They give some good examples of the way it was when they began. A "hidden" business.

The Lounge / What is stainless steel scrap price in your area ?
« on: March 15, 2013, 09:31:12 AM »
I don't do much scrapping of metal, but I could be interested in it if copper or stainless steel.

What are prices like in your area? I would guess it varies from state to state or even localities.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Got "stung" picking today

Stung again !

Finally plugged in a 30 bottle wine cooler by Haier I got at a piece by piece auction...it came out of a locker.

No go. Compressor doesn't kick on. Relay clicking, but no go.   Any ideas on how to re-purpose a 4 foot high cooler with a curved amber plastic front?

$30 down the drain !

If it's all stainless, there's probably 15 bucks worth of scrap in that thing if you can't get it working!

It measures about 17" x 12" x 6" and is mostly riveted together. Guess I could bust it up if the price for stainless is that good.

To bad they don't pay by the weight of the transformer inside.  ;D

Not sure which one #8 is because they alternate.

At 7:20 a.m. Pacific time on March 15, 2013 it was coming up as #15 on my computer.

The Lounge / Re: Remember this guy from earlier days on THIS forum ?

Why?  ???

Don't know and would only be speculating.  He is still on the top posters list in the stats area here. Click on his name there and then send him a Private Message from here. He'll see an email pop up in his regular email box and maybe he would even come back here to respond.

Wonder why this forum isn't listed? Well, that would be like putting a Coke can in a RC Cola commercial.  ;D

Well, look at #8 on the list....if both this forum and that one were not listed, you might have something to talk about.

He is still found in the stats list for his work HERE, but he jumped ship sometime ago.

You can find him at link below.

And the story is even stranger than that.

Bought a stainless steel clad outdoor lighting power center today at a flea for $15. Looked it up on the iPad before I bought it....$500 plus.  Looked like a deal to me.

Got it home, plugged it in...nada...no output !

A gamble and a loss.

You could be the one who brings extra NEW locks to sell to the NEWBIES who don't have one !

At one facility they have upgraded some of their doors to use the cylindrical locks that slip right into the latch assembly on the door. If you buy a storage lkr there you HAVE to have one of thos locks. The facility sells them for $18 !

There is no doubt in my mind that a food truck would make a killing following the crowds on days where there are multiple auctions. Just park across the street and rake in the cash. Does anyone already have someone doing this in their area?

Well, once your latest venture is up and running you can start a chain of food trucks (nationwide) that will take the industry by storm.  ;D
