Donations & Taxes / Re: The Tax Man Cometh

My taxes are easy this year.   I'm done.  Just need to plug numbers into appropriate space.  My medical expenses and sales tax exceeded income so don't even need donation write offs.  Will save those for future years....

And yes, donations from lockers are limited to what you paid for the unit.   Which is messed up because if you pay $100 for a unit that has $1000 TV you donate, write off can only be $100.    But you pay $100 for a unit that has $100,000 cash in it....you pay income tax on $99,900 of it.

Tax laws changed again.  Any donations over $500 need to be itemized.  At least snap photos as you unload so you have proof......

Nice little program (they now have an app, too).  You can print it out for your taxes or if you use turbotax it will import it for you....

Nonexistent.

I'm down to very specific higher end stuff.   Most of which isn't very holiday-ish.
All of my cookware went so left with only copper.   Not to many people are out looking for a $300 sauce pan.  And it's been way to cold to fix the lower price stuff.   (Not that I mind working in the cold but the metal cools off to fast)

Auctions, when there has been auctions, have been horrible for my size limit and estate sales have been less than desirable.

Disappointed because I have some old but totally unused ski stuff I thought would be gone by now......except there has been no snow.   Nice set of studded tires that no one needs.  Bunch of brand new chains.......

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Have you ever found a hand gun?

To bad you didn't find them a yer ago.    AR mags were going for $50-$100 depending on size.  Now stocks have been replenished and aftermarket companies banged out $10 ones.

I think he has the right to say whatever he wants, but on the other hand, if you want to keep sucking off the corporate tit making those millions and millions of dollars along with all the hundreds of related product tied to the show, learn to filter it a little bit!

It would be nice to be in their position business wise.   They have a net worth of over $400million.  $200million being from show and merchandising.   They can walk and still be set for life just as they were before the show.    They still have the hunting show, Duck Commander, Buck Commandeer, a restaurant........   And their contract is up in a year so they can continue on another network.      I'd tell A&E to go f**k themselves.    They can go live happy, happy, happy without them.

All I've read is the excerpts from GQ article, not the article itself.   But from the very little I know I don't see what the fuss is about.    He said he doesn't judge homosexuals, just doesn't understand the attraction to men and that its against his beliefs.

He has a right to his beliefs.  Right to his religion. Right to free speech.

But its not like A&E wasn't fully aware of his views.  So by getting rid of him from show they are saying "We are okay with his views....as long as he doesn't say them".   Who's worse?  Him or A&E?    At least he has beliefs based on family and compassion.  A&E only believe's in money......which I believe is a sin, right?

I'll have to track down the article and see what exactly he said.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Do vintage electronics sell for you ?
« on: December 13, 2013, 01:13:42 PM »
I am not an electronics guy.   I can't tell one from the other even by researching them.
My friend knows a bit and has made money buying from estates.  Picked up a whole system for $35 and sold the receiver the next day for $200.   Few weeks later I saw the same brand, looked the same....called him and it was one model newer that was worthless.

Same thing with turntables.  He has three, all Technics, all have the same specs, all work. He explained that all are basically exactly the same but one is $300 and the other two he picked up for parts...?

Plus he knows how to fix.  Blown channel? needs new resistors?  Costs him pennies to solder new "stuff" in.

I just stay away.  To many variables.   Plus it seems like, unless you pick something cherry, you sit on a lot of items for a while.  Everyone I know that's into it has just stacks and piles of electronics cluttering up space.

All that said.....I still keep an eye out because with just the limited research I've done there is almost a cult following on some of those '70s & '80s electronics.

So to answer your question:  No, haven't done well with electronics due to my total lack of knowledge.....and total boredom when trying to gain knowledge.

I do not.   But I'd also check into the SBA in addition to traditional lending.
sba(dot)gov/content/business-loan-checklist

They aren't as liberal with giving out mony as in the past, especially grants, but still an option.

Might also look at franchise oppurtunities.  See who finances them.

In that case, here you go. French Toast Recipe: fly 4000 miles west, buy toaster, insert bread, wait until golden brown, serve while hot.  ;D

4000 miles west?

Think that's China.    Is that where they make french toasters now?  They are just taking over everything!

I can't remember.
Did you fix that thing up at all or just sell it?

That's cool.   I once installed hard wood floors in a VW bus.  Total pain-in-the.....
I'd hate to get a car that needs to be tiled......
