Since this forum was never optimized, until recently, it's not even close to reaching it's potential...were actually in a growth stage.

Like I said...add in the people who started auction lists, forums and blogs !

The storage wars cast helped to ruin our industry.

So who are the true winners in the Storage Wars aftermath? The storage facilities and the auctioneers.

Well, they certainly CHANGED the industry...see answer two below.

The true winners ?   Add in the people who started auction list services, storage auction forums and blogs!

WINK !

Now we all no the show is FAKE,FAKE,FAKE :P

Yep, we've all KNOWN it for some time, but hearing it from the horse's mouth is another thing.

Meanwhile, I'll continue watching it and providing a synopsis of what happens on each episode.

This will be interesting to me (and hopefully others) as we see Dave no longer there (after current episodes are used up).

Also, when the new episodes come out without DAVE it will be fun to see how the show progresses or goes downhill and how they handle super finds (if they change their approach at all).

A replacement for Dave will be something else to watch. I can't stand that guy (JEFF I think who has been on a couple of times.   So, there will be reasons to watch even if they weren't the reasons we watched for the first time in December, 2010.  ;D

To still come to auctions in droves and are we all going to keep talking about the show?

I knew this show was fake from the start but was pester here for saying so thanks MM. I got the last laugh

I think the "droves" part of it has been on the wane for a while now, hopefully interest will continue to go down.

I might have defended the show very early on, (though I couldn't direct anyone to a thread that proves that) but it didn't take long for it to become more apparent that it was rigged. Auction hunters got worse as it went along too with the finding of antique weapons almost weekly.

As to that last laugh.....the producers of the show had that on all of us....until one of their paid toadies (DAVE) blew their cover !   ;D

Here's another Storage Wars star-based lawsuit....this one's about a month and a half old, but you can bet it will be making the rounds again after Hester's lawsuit gets going.

I think people are still going to watch. Auction Hunters is so unbelievable and over the top and people still watch it.

They may still watch but perhaps they will be saying "Now THAT was planted !" instead of "Wow, maybe we could find one of those !"

Overall it HAS to have a negative affect if even only a small one. You can't have one of the 4 principles of a show making statements like that without some fallout.

Also, can you imagine Hester saying these things if he didn't feel he could prove it?  He might be hoping for a "payoff" to drop the case against the producers/network too.  Any number of ways he could play it.

Finally, any thought that Dave would continue on the show after this mess?  I doubt it.

Here’s another story link and below it is part of the article…..

http://www.ibtimes.com/storage-wars-fake-dave-hester-sues-ae-shows-producers-staging-items-auctions-933017

“Singer claims that show executives repeatedly made Hester provide items at his own expense to be planted in the storage lockers that he would later be required to purchase on the show. The practice, known as "salting," was paused when Hester complained, but continued in season two and three when production staff barred the show's buyers from using their own locks, enabling the companies to place items in the lockers at their own discretion.”

Say it ain't so Dave !

Yep, WE all have known it for a long time and now that Dave has made it public the cat is officially out of the bag.

The two stories noted in this thread will just be the tip of the iceberg. I can't see anything but downhill for the series and all its spinoffs, but could take a while for that to happen.

If nothing else, the general public will have a different view now and that can only help those of us who are serious about buying and selling.  ;D

Checking website rankings is like eating popcorn !

Here are two I remember:

Aol.com   gets a 9 out of 10

eBay.com gets an 8 out of 10

Considering how big those boys are it's easy to see why a lot of places are at 3 and 4 and many more at 0, 1, 2.

Yeah, there are several rank checking tool out there that look for placement in the 3 major search engines. All of this really doesn't matter until we get the forum in the top 5 for all relevant search terms.

Interesting stuff. I checked auctionzip.xxx using a free checking tool and they get a 6 out of 10 on Google. I looked at some others too that relate to storage auctions and they ranged from 0 out of 10 to 4 out of 10.

Just goes to show it takes a lot of work to get a website recognized by the masses.

Were you searching for storage auction or storage auctions? It makes a difference.

I searched just as you did for the words 'storage auction'. It wouldn't have made sense to do otherwise.

I also mentioned the top 3 were paid spots, so 12 minus 3 made storageauctionforums.xxx come up as #9 when I searched it.

My overall point was that this kind of analysis seems a bit unreliable considering the other variables you mentioned in your post above. I think you have mentioned more reliable analysis engines in other posts.

Yesterday, I did notice that the forum jumped 3 spots on Google from number 7 to number 4 for the search term "storage auction."

I tried what you suggested at 10:50 a.m. Pacific time, today, December 5, 2012 and the forum came up at #12 spot. That included 3 paid spots at the top.

I'm sure the results vary from day to day and even by time of day within a day, but I am wondering if they also vary by WHERE the person requesting the search is from.

In other words, the paid spots at the top are probably oriented to the ip # or some such from the person placing the request.

You SEO types might be able to speak to this.
