Welcome.

I like 3M.  Use the products often in autobody.  Prefer their Scotchguard paint protection film to any other.   The automotive detail chemicals have been beaten out by a few competitors but still great products.

What is it that you do for them?

And was the volare a 2-door or 4-door?     The 2-door wasn't bad.  Friend had the T-top model.

Shipped out a package USPS 2-day priority flate rate.   It's been six days and tracking still just says it has left my local facility.

I don't really care. It was just some stuff for my sister.  Doesn't matter when it arrives.  However, I went with priority over standard at a greater cost so a bit upset.

So I'm at the post office and mention it, give tracking number, just inquiring.
Lady gets attitude and says "well, are you sure you put the right address?"

"Ummm.....ma'am?  Doesn't matter what address I put.  The point is that you can't tell me where it is"

"It's going to Dallas?  They've had a lot of bad weather so deliveries re behind"

"Oh, cool.  So its in Dallas waiting to go out?

"I dont know.   All I see is it left his facility last week"

"So your blaming the weather in Dallas.  But you don't know if it is even IN Dallas?"

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"F**k it.  What holiday stamps you have?"

Sometimes you just gotta know when you beat.  You can't argue with stupid.

Nope.    Just my artistic genius showing thru.........    :-*

Consider it laundered furniture.

"So what are you in for?"
"Laundering"
"Money laundering?  Man, thats heavy"
"No. Furniture laundering"
"Like, your one of those guys in the van that clean furniture?  Good money"
"No!  I take stolen furniture and make it look like its not"
"Is there money in that?"
"No......so tell me more about these vans........."

Yeah.  But that was an extreme case.  And I think it would be easier and cheaper to send person to collections rather than track and get police involved.....which they wouldn't unless there was a police report...then someone would have to lie to police.....

Skeet shooting with prizes...totally funny! :D

That's what I thought!    Can just see this going down in places like South Central.....or pretty much anywhere in Texas.      ;D

Well, you wouldn't know.   It might have been paid for.  Why would he put it in storage if it was rented. Just return it.
Plausible deniability.

And the renter would have a collections  against him.   He'll have to pay for it.  They aren't going to report it stolen or come looking for it.

Personally I would never had thought to call nor would I now.  I'd assume it was paid for.  Next you'll be calling library's to see if books are over due or were bought at book sale!

Once again.  To close. Blurry. Dark.

Description: "Lots of very old/antique items including printing equipment"

That big one with gear does look like a Printing press.  Also, think your right, the table does looks like, possibly, maybe an old letter tray.    Can't tell much else.   Is that a fridge in front?  Like for soda at gas station?

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Tip: The Bitcoin Hoopla
« on: December 05, 2013, 11:57:47 AM »
The chances are slim.  Bitcoins are like cash.  He who holds, owns.  People create paper wallets out side their systems.  Third party, cloud, on flash drive.

No one wants it on their system because if it crashes, breaks, is stolen they are gone.   Plus if your hacked, and people using bitcoins aren't going to the nicest of websites, your out.

If it is on system then its most likely encrypted.  Partitioned on drive with separate password.  Even if you find the folder its unlikely your going to get into it.

Now what you may want to look for is programs.  things like photoshop and music producing software people left of hard drive.  Can be tricky to pull off but for $700 software its worth the time.

I don't look to hard.  Mostly I come across PC's that are so old the software isn't compatible.   But it is fun to search thru pictures and what not.....

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Im just starting out
« on: December 04, 2013, 01:58:30 PM »

Anybody on here do good on there first time out?

Well, I started with an inside track.  I was 16-17 and friends dad did it.  We only got industrial units with recycling or stuff his contacts would buy.  Most of the time we knew what was in the unit and had buyers before we bid.   Without his help I never would have gotten rid of anything.   Plus he had trucks, recyclers that came to shop, dumpster.....we didnt even pay for gas in company trucks.  It was a good learning experience but without all that help I wouldn't have made a dime.

Then I stopped for years, mainly because I didnt have access anymore to all the above.   I moved into cars and tools.  Nothing big.  I was going to school.  Then "real jobs" but always picked and bartered and recycled.  Things of opportunity. Always kept a eye out, if it came up then cool, but wasn't  out there really looking.

Then a few odd years ago I got hurt. Needed extra income so got back into auctions.   Ive done well, never lost (unless you take into account my time) but I'm real cautious.   Small units.  Must have at least 1-3 items I know I can move for close to bid price.  For me its part fun, part *extra* money not needed money so I take my time and wait for good units.     Tho, that said, I'm a sucker for those $1-$20 units with just a few totally unknown's.  Couple boxes or a duffle bag.   I've lost on a ton of those but it fun and no different than blowing $20 at casino.  And a few of them have been my biggest earners.

So to answer your question, yes I did well my first times out but knowing what I know now that probably wouldn't have been the case had I not had help or if I had jumped into buying bigger units.

We are going to have some bad weather this Friday.  Do the auctions usually shut down for bad weather days?

Heck no.   Best time to go.  Weeds out the compition and, better yet, the kids, spouses, friends.....
No waiting for 100 looky loo's with no intention of bidding.

.....

It's cold here too.   Almost 11:30 and my car still has ice covering it.   I've been doing indoor stuff.  Haven't even ventured out.   Really should.  It's so nice out.  Just to lazy in the nice warm house.  I didnt even get out of bed untill 10am.   Just grabbed the laptop and got caught up on some work from the comfort of my bed.    :)

I agree.   Tho, they don't look Bavarian to me.   Has a victorian look IMO.
Hat pins pins were fashionable mainly in Britain and France so better bet, but could be wrong.

Any markings on back?
