Other Forms of Selling / Re: LinkedIn
« on: February 27, 2014, 03:55:10 PM »
like others have said has some seo value gives you a couple good backlinks but beyond that its pretty pointless. i do see some value if your in b2b sales but for the average guy working a 9-5 or even for entrepreneurs pretty pointless. i have tried reaching out to lawyers and bankers and people through when i need services for my biz there but never had much luck

I was just curious if anyone pays any attention to these storage shows any more? The first year of storage wars I watched, quickly lost interest. As with many new fads or popular jobs or reality shows they got like a 1 year shelf life if that. Deadliest catch and a few others have stuck around but its because you can't fake that and its actually interesting. Storage wars always seemed to be more about the plot than the actual business and it was so staged and edited i think people lost intersted quickly. Just curious if anyone watches these anymore?

For those of you who aren't blessed to live in like Texas, Cali, Florida nad live in the midwest or other cold climates has the winter slowed you down at all this year?

This winter in Chicago has been unseasonably cold like weeks in the negatives, I think we have another cold snap of -30 with wind chill comming up. Curious  if any auctions are cancelled or if crowds are less with teh cold this year?

eBay / Do You Charge A Re-Stocking Fee On Returns?
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:04:03 AM »
Just curious if you guys charge a re-stocking fee on your returns. On one of my accounts they allow me to do this on the other they don't, I'm not sure if you have to be top rated or power seller or have a certain level category of store but I really like this feature.

It allows me to accept returns while still getting paid for my time and expenses on selling an item. I still don't like returns but heck if someone returns something I make a nice 20% margin and then resell the item again to someone else so not the end of the world. I have chosen to offer a 14 day return policy with a 20% restocking fee so I do offer returns and am rewarded in best match search for doing so however it also prevents buyers from playing games buying something on the offchance they may want it and sending it back or buying something just to try it out.

eBay / Re: How long after a sale can a buyer leave feedback?
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:00:25 AM »
Another important time period is 45 days. I believe thats the amount of time Paypal allows a buyer to file a dispute. Most of the scammers tend to file either immediately after you ship the item or right before the 45 day deadline

eBay / Re: Have you ever left negative feedback on another seller?

honestly its stupid people even charging shipping fees, you dont save anything on fvf, you rank lower in searches and you get buyers whining about the true cost of shipping vs what it cost. i roll my shipping into product cost and offer it free but i always add on more than shipping costs. if you charge the actual shipping costs your losing money as your paying fvf on the shipping costs plus you have to account for your time, gas to post office and packaging materials. in the situation just described i wouldn't be concerend about shipping costs as buyers should look at total product cost period whether shipping is seperated or rolled in. that said if someoen doesnt package something up well and its damaged or open during shipping thats bad.

yeah drug dealers love storing drugs in storage units as they can rent in fake names or have other people rent for them, not as much cost or documentation as getting a house or apartment.

I used to do pricing and labeling of goods i find its a waste of time as nobody pays marked prices. Just load the stuff up and take tothe flear market or out to the garage. i do however make sure i have enough cash on hand for change, research anything im unsure about, etc.

I understand what being a seller is like so it pretty much has to be an outright screw you for me to leave bad feedback for someone. I would never leave bad feedback for slow shipping or anything like that if tracking showed sellers did things in a timely manner I dont hold people responsible forn  a crappy post office though many buyers do.

Heck even if I'm unhappy with a purhcase I'll always give a seller a chance to right a situation. It frustrates me how some people leave bad feedback without ever trying to contact me as a seller. Also I hate when someone leaves me a neg or a neutral and it will say fast shipping like whats the problem then? My items aren't really something thats a surprise when it shows up you know exactly what your getting no variations so really the only knock someone could give me is for communication or shipping time both issues I'm always responsive to within minutes.

silver by far both people buying and selling and the fastest and easiest thing to turn over

interesting how the new acceptance of pot is causing all types of issues not just for pot growers but for banks can or cant they deal with the money, etc and now storage facilities as well.

i would hihgly doubt any storage facilities would allow growing of pot as its a fire hazard, would smell up other peoples belongings and the whole facility, would use a ton of their electricity and also puts them at risk of being robbed. as far as storage thats another issues, state wise they are okay but still vulnerable to federal laws

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Shipping Insurance
« on: February 18, 2014, 11:49:47 AM »
There are a surprisingly lot of items USPS, Fedex, and UPS will not insure. Look for a third party insurance company. I have a third party company who insures all my packages, the company I use also setup a sub Fedex account for me so I'm under their accoutn and get all their volume discounts which is a pretty big value considering theya re a shipping company and send a lot of stuff. look for companies who insure high end jewelry they tend to insure silver, precious metals and things often not insured by carriers. plus its easier to get a payout than dealing with uSps which is a pain.
