« on: April 06, 2012, 05:39:57 PM »
Im going to say 850- 970. Either way it will be way over bidded. That is a 300 max locker.

$250 Max. ( I am cheap).
But my guess will be $1700  ;)

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Advice for a noobie?
« on: April 06, 2012, 05:14:01 PM »
As everyone else has mentioned sounds like you have different ideas.

I feel that you MissTAKE have more for this biz than your partner. Selling at the Fleas / yard sales is a big part of this.

And like Movieman & Rockin like to re-purpose things and create art. But finding the time and then getting what it is worth are both challenges in this biz.

I will do a quick fix or touch up for some things. Took a dresser someone had painted black ripped off the peeling pieces slapped some more black paint bought cheap wooden knobs and it looked country when I got done.. SOLD.

Instead of calling it quits with your partner.....

What does he do with the stuff you want to sell at Flea?  If donates/ throws away.. Take it sell it and only give him 20% if any.

On the creative side start small with what you want to keep and repurpose and see if you can make a profit from it and then proof in the pudding.
On the down side of the repurpose before you know it you will be over run with stuff. I have cleaned out my creative room 5 times.  ::) With few creative things coming out of it.  ;D

Could back out and ask if you can come get some of the stuff he is going to have to get rid of for the creative thing.

Wish you luck and let us know what happens and post your finds at the auctions and what you create.  ;)

Not that you'll ever need it but I got a hydraulic kit from Harbor Frieght years ago. Mainly for the press for  various autobody projects but it had a cutter. Like a mini jaws of life. Pretty cool. Had to play and cuts thru the most protective locks!

Just a future FYI for ya.   ;)

;D   ;D ;D Husband uses a cookie cutter, but no power at location so had to go the old fashion way. Almost took the small generator, but it was just a few dressers.  ::)

 ;D

Went to empty our free unit. (Son's)

Husband had to work.

Borrowed bolt cutters, drove to the storage place no one in office. So went over could not cut the huge master lock off. Handles on bolt cutters not long enough to get good leverage.

Went and Got my Uncle and two pieces of pipe. Between the two of us we get it open. My uncle needed a washer so got his help for free.

4 dressers, 3 bags of garbage, one mirror,  TWO QUEEN SIZE MATTRESS AND ONE BOX SPRING......

2 of the dresser are solid wood one old so not bad.

What was not there the WASHER AND DRYER

Son forgot to mention the the mattress's... I mainly did it to get the washer dryer (fast cash)..

Guess the ex came and picked up the washer dryer and left the garbage.

So might be able to sell the dressers or bargain for a sofa. (son needs one)  Oh well I will remind my son of this when he tries to put me in a nursing home....  ;D

And now I owe a favour to my uncle.

So for a free unit and from a retaliative same as any purchased locker.

and sure am glad I don't have to cut locks for a living. ;)

Nice drbecker, sounds like even with two duds you will do fine.

We will be getting a locker tomorrow have to cut the lock ourselves.  ;D

Son left a washer dryer/ and two dressers for the x to pick up, and she did not get it, she also has the only key. So we will pick it up tomorrow. It is just a few miles down the road.

Might also be a dud she may have picked up and left the $50 deposit, but highly unlikely.

Son needs a sofa so may do some trading.

Will try and get in with this facility, never have auctions. Think they work real hard with their tenants, they don't even own bolt cutters.  :o  Will tread lightly though don't want anything coming back to us.
Letting us in on a unit we do not own, and knowing we don't even have the key, little on the side of not legal.  ???  We have gone up and paid the bill so the manager does know us.  Will let you know what we find.

Stores / Re: Anyone Actually Own a Store?
« on: April 03, 2012, 07:31:21 PM »
Sorry you feel you are having a rough start.

It will be fine, just get it looking good and you will be surprised.  As a shopper in previous life sometimes it is cool that booth not totally full get a good look at everything.  :)

Have you thought of using index cards for your tags? Can cut them with scrapbook scissors so they have a cool look. Punch a hole in the corner and use up some of that Christmas ribbon to tie it on. Or Staples also sells tags in a pinch.

Sounds like you are trying to get too much done at once. Decide what you want to fill the booth with and only do your list of tasks for that, inventory, clean, price, put in booth. Then start on the replacement things for when things sell.

And on that note could you imagine filling a store?  I would be a wreck.  ;)

Relax. Wishing you luck!!!! and I think you will do fine.

Well glad the policy's have changed. Too bad you had to pay the price.

Wonder if you had not made all the attempts to resolve the issue if they would have realized the problem with the consignment.

So good for you and Don for contributing to the policy changes.  Stardom and all.  ;)

TechGromit  welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of good info here..

Glad you have a handle on the ebay side that will help. One thing to remember is most of what you get in a locker is yard sale/ Flea Market stuff or donation stuff.  So if you haven't already figure that side out as well get a plan in mind before you buy a locker.

I have all the other stuff figured out working on the ebay side still learning.

Good Luck and keep us posted on your experience.

Try to live in central FL. hot no breezes, and bugs galore.  LOL

Hoping for no rain on Sat. also, have not decided where we are going but defiantly going somewhere. Not to the Flea just yard sale stuff.

Taking all our baskets and remainder of the baby rabbits, day before Easter should be good. And all of our yard sale stuff.

June is sneaking up on you.  ;)

Good luck this weekend.

eBay / Finally making it work.
« on: April 02, 2012, 01:04:29 PM »
Been piling stuff for ebay.  ???  Just procrastinating.  Did get my room straightened out and a little organized so I can move around in it.

Got all my misc. notes together (weights, measurements, ect.)

In my defence storage/ ebay sell stuff on other side of property. No internet... Go and get all the info and pictures come back over here and always forget something. (new at this)...  So with my procrastinating nature takes way too long.  ;)

My husband changed jobs more of a self employed thing and has taken both of us to get it under control.
(Sounds good to me.  ::) )  ;)

Listed an Iron  we got out of the box lot Listed for $9.99.......................Sold for $38.76  ;D
Would have sold it for $5.00 at Flea.

Sooooo Going over to get more stuff out of that pile.

Have decided to list the China Tea Set (in What is it Worth thread)  for either 15 or 30 days to see what happens.
Any advice on that idea would be greatly appreciated.

With everyone on keep them. And sell what you have. We have sold the uglest used up pots and pans like crazy. They were cheap, .50 a piece then decided we were selling too cheap raised price to $1. each piece (lid is separate) sold out.

So keep them and sell yours.  ;D
