The Treasure Chest / Large Lladro Figurine
« on: September 19, 2013, 02:29:07 PM »
Spent $30 on a locker today for some clothing racks which my store needed. I was figuring I overpaid, but it was alright, because I needed the racks personally.

As I was digging through the one sterilite bin in the locker, beneath the Spongebob and Patrick plush.. Even beneath the Homer Simpson plush doll, and the Stewie plush, I found a Llardo Figurine. Makes the locker a home run, however, on $30, it's not like I'm set for life.. I've got it up on ebay now for $75/$150

Yeah I saw that. What I'm looking for is search terms so that I can SEO my craigslist ads.

Craigslist / Craigslist stats?
« on: September 19, 2013, 12:25:37 PM »
Does anybody know of a site or service that offers craigslist stats? I'd like to know about search terms.. I know it's probably a long shot, but with guys like MM who seem to have a hand in everything online, thought I'd ask!

Picker's Paradise / Re: Advance purchase of an entire yard sale
« on: September 19, 2013, 12:18:03 PM »
Yard sales around here go from 7 a.m. to noon. Nobody's standing around all day, just the morning. I had a couple of garage sales when I lived in Tampa before moving to NC.. I stood outside all day for 2 weekends.. It actually wasn't too bad, but we moved in May.. April was still nice.

To be fair... there could have been 300 paintings in the locker  ???

Think big !  You could double your floor space at the thrift store....add some more slatwall !

You could use the tips here on getting helpers (and a truck) to move stuff.

True, you probably would need a place to store stuff until you could sell it all, but it would mean NOT going to storage auctions where a good quantity of the stuff one is buying is not truly visible...compare that to the yard sale bonanza !

Thanks for the encouragement! But it would be for the leftovers, which means a lot of socks and snack trays.. I suppose if there were furniture that couldn't be moved, I'd be interested.. if it's in decent shape!

I've not tried it in advance of the yard sale starting. I'll try to get a figure for everything early on in a yard sale. On my website, I advertise a service to pick up the leftovers. Of course, they can put up an ad on craigslist, but a lot of neighborhoods around here don't want random people driving through.. I just got a call for a 40 home neighborhood yard sale pickup.. Obviously too much for me to handle!

eBay / Re: Anybody Use Ebay Classifieds With Any Luck?

Also, I'm thinking of using it to post some of my larger items. I haven't had any luck with ebay pickup only listings..

I like this guy too. His articles are very informative. I follow many of his rules, and will start putting my Google Voice number into my listings!

That's really a great deal.. especially if you have a HUGE locker to clear out.

Issues have been more with people responding to an ad with interest, and then not responding after I respond to them.. Strange, they want it, I respond that I still have it, and they don't respond again.

I recently picked up a Woodrow at a yard sale pick. It's an instrument, cross between a dulcimer and banjo. It's hand made in Western NC and very easy to play. It's sitting my my shelf now, but if I don't sell it for a couple of years, I won't be disappointed!

eBay / Anybody Use Ebay Classifieds With Any Luck?
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:16:37 PM »
Ebay classifieds seems to be popular in my area. Lots of listings, not sure if it's worth my time to put all my listings up there..

Anybody else use Ebay Classifieds? How does it work for you?

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Units that tell a story
« on: September 18, 2013, 11:41:08 AM »
Part of the fun for me is piecing together the story behind the loss of the unit. I guess I'm just sick that way. I've found death certificates, divorce decrees, very expensive clothing along with Burger King uniforms.. They all tell a story to me, some are obvious, some are speculation.. I think that every unit tells a story, even down to the way it's packed..
