On Wednesday, March 16, 2011 the new Storage War episodes start with the same 4 guys duking it out
for the goodies! (A&E on Cable/satellite)
Meanwhile, not too much going on in the thread link below where the producers of Storage Wars are looking
to recruit what I think is new talent for auctions in the Florida area...THAT should be interesting as well given what TreasureHawk and some others have posted about Florida.

« on: March 14, 2011, 11:51:07 AM »I'm not sure about this forum, but most of the other's I'm a member of you have to go in to your profile and go into preferences and set your local time so that it shows up right. I don't think it happens automatically on the forum.
Thanks teacher...I had looked in profile area in two sections before I posted but couldn't find it.
Went back after your post and found it in PREFERENCES. The auto detect worked !

Locker cost $2500 (it was a pod). I sold the quad for $2500. All other items about paid locker off. Net on locker was $1800, so I guess you could say I made $1800 on the quad.
I had plenty of $750 to $1000 offers while I didn't have the title, but I held out. In California the only place you could operate one without a green tag is private property (or you could take it to Mexico or some other states). If you want to go on state or nat park land in CA you need title and green tag.
Does $1800 count as "real" money ?

As to the quad I got. It ran like a top; a year 2000 I got about 18 months ago. It had the key and needed a new battery, but started right up. Took me a full 11 months to get this cleared with dmv and Honda Finance but it sold in 10 days.
I liked it, but my time in the outdoors is spent hiking so it didn't fit for me.

Going to a single auction on Monday the 14th of March 2011 and expect a large crowd as it is one of 3 major auctioneers in my area. Will update this post with results after the auction. Then Tuesday 3 auctions all by another person and with a big following. One can always hope!
Edit: Monday the 14th....auction cancelled ! Bummer now I actually have to WORK at something.
Edit: Tuesday the 15th...went to 3 today all the same auctioneer.
First facility had 5. All went to newbies, and IMHO they all paid too much...what's new? 75 people/7 regulars.
Second facility had 2. Same as above.
Third facilty had 15. Now the crowd is up to 100 (some newbies don't get up early). First lkr went to a fellow
who had bought one a month ago for $1675 and told us later he was able to sell $1,000 out of it. Today he paid
$675 for a 5x10 that I would have paid $100 for MAX. Then he bought the 2nd 5x10 for $250. I would have paid $75 for it.
So, 2 down, 13 to go ....I left. No point when crowd and prices were like that. I'll find out from the regulars who stayed how the rest went.

There is another thread with a similar name, but it got corrupted by a fair amount of off-topic bickering and so I thought I would start one here...not trying to steal anyone's thunder, just trying to give a clean start to a PICTURE thread.
Please, if you don't know how to post AN ACTUAL PICTURE in a thread, learn how. Please don't ask here how to do it. Do some research on your own...here's a hint, look at the bbc tags above when you post an answer AND a picture.
I'll start with what I would consider one of my best finds. I got this in my 268th locker purchase in July, 2009.

Wow, took about 8 or 9 months to get to 1000 posts (April, 2010 to early Feb, 2011, but only about 6 weeks to go from 1,000 posts to about 2,100 posts on March 11, 2011.
Just goes to show you what 2 tv "reality" shows can do !
Be interesting to see the growth curve over the next 6 months.
