Nope, no popcorn...but now here's one "weeper" story.

Once in a while the storage unit property managers WILL let a "former" locker owner in to an auction if they promise to be calm about the
proceedings; they will even let them bid sometimes.

One of these people did bid against me; she stopped at $700 and I got it for $750. She then approached me asking if she could please buy the whole thing from me....she would go get some extra money.  I talked to the property manager about this and she had enough sympathy for the woman to allow it; the prop manager was sure the woman WOULD clean the unit out.

So, I took the woman's $700 as a deposit on her promise to get another $150 by the end of the day. When I called her later that day she put her lesbian lover on the phone who INSISTED I return the $700 or a lawyer would be called because she believed the auction was FIXED.

I returned the money, got them both to sign a receipt indicating this had taken place and I had two witnessess along with me. What a mess, and more proof that "No good deed goes unpunished."

Last note on this incident: the former lkr owner (without the lesbian lover) DID buy back a sofa set for $300 so it worked out a bit for her and I. Locker came out really good (aside from that hastle).

No new fees here in California for new would-be buyers.
On Friday, Feb 11, 2011 the crowd at two auctions (same auctioneer) was about 75; I didn't go to the 3rd auction.
Prices were somewhat high at first two auctions, but I got one for $500 (showing 3 laptops, two of which work);other stuff OK too, but total lkr not a huge money maker; three months ago this would have gone for $250 or $300 and would have made me that much more profit.

Yep...it was shocker to see it and still taking time to get used to it.
The small menu band near top left corner (above Google ads) could be larger, maybe centered on page...more distinct; just my opinion.

10 x 10

More opps for larger furniture but box count usually goes up. Roll-Away toolboxes more common here than smaller sizes.

10 x 15

Larger furn, more boxes. Large furn ok if good quality. Particle board no good for me.

10 x 20

Now we're talking serious cleanout time and storage of big items until they sell, but box quantity could be good if quality is good.

10 x 30

Prepare for a lot of work. I do most of mine myself, so a buy this big means I usually rent the locker if a first month special is available.

As to QUALITY of goods contained by locker size, I'm not so sure that works. Sure collectibles might fill a 5 x 5 or 5 x 10, but they could
also fill the corner of a larger locker.  For me it's mostly about a lkr NOT containing a lot of big heavy items. I'll take them if the box count looks good or the lkr is cheap enough (not so likely the first few months of 2011).

OK, I'll give it a shot by size, one at a time.

5 x 5 seems too small to me to be of much good, though I like the fact it can't have a lot of furniture in it. I prefer "smalls"

5 x 10

often sometimes gets bigger furn and it can take up a lot of space. A couch (with recliner on each end) and standing on end
is not my idea of fun, but I got one recently and gave the couch and bed to someone and kept the smalls for myself.

On the other hand a 5 x 10 full of boxes could be good...a risky thing to gamble on just boxes, but sometimes can't resist depending   on       neighborhood, etc.
