eBay / Re: What have I been waiting for?!?!
« on: January 26, 2012, 07:28:26 PM »
Well.....after much prodding from many friends/colleagues and yes....money4nothing, I went ahead and decided to list a couple items on Ebay.  I haven't sold on ebay since 2006.

Now I just need to follow my own advise. LOL

Go Rockin.

Suppose to be a rainy day tomorrow so maybe I will get mine done.  :D
Already have my pictures taken.

Hope you feel better. But making money will help that.  ;D

Think Movieman, Cobia, and Craigslist would have fun at our tables. LOL

We are more like Rockin turn and burn the inventory.

We were picked by the appliance vendor. He gave me what I wanted for a dented crock pot.  :D

One of the clothes vendors came buy asked what my prices were. Looked at a cute sparkly pair of girls jeans.  Left then buzzed back by handed me $1 and took them. (think because they caught everyone's eye.)

Good luck this weekend. If you get what you want for something then that is good.

We were selling our DVD's for $1. Vendor across from us was selling for $3. She came over and looked at our DVD's. they looked like someone played Frisbee with them. Told her why they were a $1. She was real nice, and after looking at them think she realized why I was selling so cheap.

The vendor next to us sold two electric cheap guitars for $75. Husband was blown away, can pick them up all day for $50.

Oh some advice take bags (grocery store plastic, can shove them in a tissue box for easy storage) and if you have glass take some newspaper to wrap. We forgot that.  ;D

I have to admit, I am not as friendly as I use to be. The attitude of the newbies has changed a lot in my area. Most use to come out to lookie loo, watch the process, and decide if storage auctions were right for them, some would jump in and bid, some would win, but generally not to big a deal. More so now it seems the newbies are either intent to run up the bids cause they think its a game, or try to figure out who the regulars are and bid on anything they see a regular bid on and try to win it no matter what the cost. The newbies of the last couple of months have been more agressive, more arrogant, and more a pain in the butt. I don't "be friend" newbies at the auction anymore, and when I am talking to other regulars about the business, I keep my voice low and watch out for eavedroppers.

I am a pretty friendly person, quite when I need to be. We are new to this but now that you mention it we are not as friendly as we use to be. We got into this before this last blast of noobies. So the regulars are nice to us. But they react the way we do to the noobies who are just rude and stupid. Have no patience for it.

Maybe it was his. $500 being cheaper than what he owed in rent and fees and $500 being cheaper than him replacing what was in there.

My only guess, otherwise makes no sense to me. ???

Go a head and go if not windy and raining.

We went last weekend learned a lot just being there. Did not make a lot of money but got a lot of knowledge to help with this weekend.

Can see what sells fast and what sits helps to know what to pick. Good Luck.

I'm in wake county, ya know, RDU. I've only been to two auctions and seen only 5 units but hoooly **** do they go for too much money. It really sucks to try to get into this business with these kinds of results. Ugh.

You are doing fine, we went to about five different auctions and our 1st locker we got for $30. Had three cut locks in it. LOL Obviously kept saving it. then finally lost it. it was full of bags of clothes. We needed it for a yard sale of our personal stuff. We been moving slowly but surly. Keep going you learn a lot.  :D

Amazing.

Think I will price it at $10 and see what happens. That would be too funny to sell it at that.

Will take the broom and dustpan too.  :D

Yeah was hoping for more. But we got what we took. Learned that some of our higher end stuff may do well there. So looking forward to that.

We like the first of the month too, If we decide to sell will do the yard on Friday that has proven worth it.

The crowd we saw was older individuals  with money to spend.  Retired folks from up north.

We will see already payed for this weekend. All in now.  ;D

Declared he was going to be the new Darrell bidder in his home town, seeing as he looked the part, he might as well play the part.  Now all he needed was seed money again so he............

went and filed his taxes claiming 6 kids and his dog. Now waiting on the rapid refund check to clear. Then will start trying to find.........

Cold has made me lazy - keep trying to sort the cloths for Ebay lots and then find something else (almost anything else) to do :)

LOL I don't have anything else to do.. LOL  All we really got out of that big locker, besides the furniture. Maybe why I keep hanging in there.

Label them after season blowout sale!

Now~do you have any youth Vikings jerseys (that don't say Moss or Favre?!?!)? :D

Like hanging out on this forum?......I know~I should be thinking about ebaying......but alas.....I don't want to. I don't want to! I don't want to!!!

Yes blowout sell that will work.

Rocken just do it ! just do it!  just do it !!!!!!!!!!  ;)

Have a prom dress on ebay right now, have 10 watchers. Hopefully turn into a bid like crazy at the end (average for this brand $29- $55. Listed for $5 start bid.) Will see.

This is why I'll take a dozen photos, then transfer them to the PC and check the boards. Makes it feel less like work!!

Why I am here.

Isn't it funny how people will think about $1 item for forever but you mark it for $5 and they will walk up offer $3 and buy instantly!  All psychology I guess....

Like our owner says, never talk in terms of dollars, build the value of the product so the price doesn't matter.....

I think that is what was wrong too low of a price. Might even put $10 on it. LOL

I know of a long time flea market vendor who sometimes will actually break the item in front of the customer if they haggle over a $1-$2 item. He will tell them "Should of bought it at a $1, now it's worthless!"

ROTFL

Gave my husband an idea... Thanks I will take the broom and dust pan.

Still Laughing.

Had a major expense show up, so I might not be buying anything but cheap units, if I can find them, for the next couple of months, unless I a get a gift from Uncle Sam. Oh well, so is the life...

We can relate. Only have one good auction next week hopefully some inventory starts moving at the thrift. Or we might just have to stay home.  :(. All our seed money tied up in inventory.
