I've done both (found them in lockers and picking) and am wondering how widespread it is to find Bose products.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Store Owners....How are you doing ?
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:23:48 PM »
My auction friend who opened a store in November, 2012 just folded his hand a few weeks ago.  Rent, lack of business and disputes with a partner on what to stock, etc did him in.

So many topics, so little content. :P

We eagerly await your contribution of new and meaningful thread topics.

Then we can deliver equally meaningful one-line responses.  ;D

Took us 10 trips, 2 1/2 hour drive each way (more with traffic, once it took 4 hours).

Incredible load...what was your total gasoline expense?

eBay / Re: Hey Guys Ebay Tip... Call Every 30 Days Get Limit Raised
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:00:04 PM »
Ok. Been ebaying for 10+ years. Don't know a thing about limits. Never heard of any. Please - a little more info.

If you've never reached your limit you don't need to be concerned about raising your limit. I've never reached my limit and I know guys who never did anything but keep on listing and they've never reached their either (one has 6K feedback, one has 11K feedback).

If it ain't broke don't....you know.

Lately I have seen several websites that buy cellular phones. I recently saw a kiosk in our local mall that buys them as well. Has anyone used one of these services and if so, how did it work out?

Nope, haven't used either one, but in regard to kiosk sites check out the link below; take a look at reply #2.

I'm sure the other members of the forum appreciate your withdraw.   ;)

"That's what she said."

Obviously what I take home is no where near as impressive as the overall sales number.

I'd be more interested to hear what your NET was (after product cost and all other expenses).

Obviously you have a small product that sells in large numbers.

I missed nothing of the sort.  All I said was getting a ticket has nothing to do with being at an auction, that can happen anywhere.

True, but in the excitement of getting to an auction (or running late) it might be more likely that someone would make a mistake in either parking or running a stop sign etc.  Of course we know that only you are so careful as to NOT make that kind of error...except maybe for maintaining the flow of traffic (even if over the speed limit) !  ;D

Why don't you save a lot of time it just give it to Movieman now. He owns that section.

Nope, I won't be competing there anymore than I have been competing in the cList section. A $50 gift card doesn't do it for me. I would consider$150 but would truly participate if it were $250.  ;D

General Storage Auction Talk / Are antiques still selling ?
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:11:43 AM »
Once in a while I see antiques in a locker...mostly larger furniture pieces but sometimes smalls.

Are they still selling?

Since this might vary by state, please list your state if you are comfortable with that.

So what is this mystery tool?

It's the same thing as the "specialty" tools I've mentioned before. That is to say, if I told you what they were, they wouldn't be a mystery or a specialty anymore.

This is the kind of thing I sell on either eBay or sometimes cList and since people from all over the country read the forum there's no point in giving the competition any ideas about buying and listing a similar item. In this particular case there are already a half dozen listed (if not more) but they are spread throughout the USA and my hope is to grab the person who is willing to drive a couple of hundred miles to get this one as it is HEAVY...two parts totaling almost two hundred pounds. None of the other sellers are willing to ship either.

I will give you this though in regard to "specialty tools"...they can be used by any number of types of people from, car or aircraft  mechanics, lumberjacks, ranchers, construction workers, muscians, hobbyists, theatre performers, etc. They all use specialty tools and some of them are semi-rare in our used world.

Picker's Paradise / Piece by Piece Auction...14 lockers...got a score !
« on: September 26, 2013, 05:00:30 PM »
Went to a piece-by-piece today with a decent crowd and decent NUMBER of lockers though the quality was missing.

HOWEVER.... I did buy an item for $140 plus 15% auctioneer fee; last one on eBay sold for $1,300 !  Looked it up on the iPad before bidding on it.

Mine has same model number but I think the one that sold for $1.3K on eBay had one slightly different configuration.
Others on eBay currently are asking $900 to $1,200 and aren't selling, so might take a while, but am thinking of putting it on buy-it-now at $1,200 OR BEST OFFER....I'd be happy to get $700 or so for a $500+ profit.  ;D
