I've not examined your site in depth, but do you have an article on there to explain to sellers how to have a successful online auction?

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #6...June, 2013

Auctions have been slow. real slow. Which is good timing because my promo products business has picked up. But now I'm running low on stuff, except for clothes..   Time to get back out there, but very few auctions scheduled this coming week..

Should help for google rankings too!

There are unincorporated areas around. But I live in a pretty populated area (Raleigh/Durham) to get to those parts that are unincorporated, I'd have to travel about an hour. About the cheapest deal I've found is in Durham near a major shopping area for $400/month. It's a 300 sq. ft. store front. Tiny. Tiny. Tiny.

So, the "flea market" where I pay $300 a month isn't working out so good recently. Rather than go through the list of problems I'm having with the location, I'd like to ask the group for advice as to where to move my sales. I'm looking for something of a flex space, as an office for my printing business, and warehouse for my junk but the price is out of my budget.

The alternate option is to sell out of a storage space. For you guys who do this, how does it work for you? I've seen posts where guys have shelving set up, clothing racks, etc. Do you guys operate by appointment? Set up on the weekends? Is it just holding space for your online sales?

Lots of questions, looking for a bunch of input!

Garage Sales / Re: Does Anyone Do Garage Sales On Sunday?

When we moved from FL to NC, we did 3 weeks of garage sales on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday typically did just as well as Saturday.

Craigslist / Re: Any successful Craigslist sells?

Around here, Craigslist dies off completely between May-July. I live in Raliegh/Durham, 3 major colleges and about 40 smaller schools all letting out for summer means that the graduating college kids are giving away their stuff for free. Great for a craigslist picker who has storage until late August when the crowds come back in with new Freshmen, but bad for storage auctioners.

Outside of those 3 months, really more like 2.5 months, Craigslist is great!

$750/mo. for 1,000 Sq. Ft. is an amazing deal compared to what you get out here. I'd be at a minimum of $1,500 NNN for a space with decent foot traffic. Right now I'm in a flea market, upgraded to 2 PODs this week. So I've got essentially a 16x32 space to work with for $300/mo. Before settling on the 2nd POD I checked with the state flea market on an indoor space. It's cheaper, .50/sq. ft. but they want specialty shops inside. Things like pet supplies, jewelry, crafts. Not "thrift junk"..

Each weekend we average about $300 but it's a very high traffic location.. About 15k cars/day pass by on the weekends.

I don't sell my stuff anywhere that I can't employ myself as salesperson. If I have to drop my stuff and leave, I don't participate. I don't like playing by someone else's rules with my merchandise.

Who put that BMW Isetta under all my useless newspaper?

I don't have any pics of the watch.. I haven't even taken pics of what I want to sell online. I figured I'd take the watch up to the Flea Market, ask $200 for it, and let someone chew me down to $125.

Turns out it's a fake. It's a good fake, though. No rubber washer on the dial.. The pawn shop wouldn't take it, but he said I should be able to get $100-$150 for it. Not a bad thing.. Just not sure how to sell it! Don't want to get in trouble for hocking fake merch...

The Treasure Chest / Found a Rolex, or is it fake?

Bought 3 units today..

First unit was a bust, some kids toys, but is basically a break even unit.

Second unit had about 20 1/18th scale die cast cars. None in boxes, but all in great condition. It's a very cool collection! BUT.. after I was done playing with cars, I pulled a box and started digging..

Picked up a watch, it says Rolex. A submariner. I know they're faked a lot, no box or paperwork with it.. and I'm not gonna find someone to authenticate at 1 a.m. But I definitely pee'd my pants a bit when I saw it. If it's a fake, it's a pretty good one in my book. I'd post pics, but again, it's 1 a.m.

I'll update when I find out what I've got!
