What's it Worth?? / Re: Avon Cologne and Perfume Bottles
« on: February 25, 2011, 05:54:43 AM »
There are some. I did see a CL add from a collector on the chicago CL selling his collection of 200 bottles for 2000 about 6 months ago so that falls in line with other sites i found on the net that give a 10 to 20 range per bottle with the original boxes. I figure I'll put up the whole collection for 300 and let them go and keep generating and turning cash. Thats 6 a bottle with boxes and still leaves room for someone else to re-sell them or sell the ones they don't want for their own collection and still make some $$$. I'm all about turning a profit but not greedy. Would rather keep money turning and working versus holding out.

The "Other" Job / Re: My full time "other job" is

It's interesting, I've seen a lot of "commercial" trucks at auctions. Ones that have a route like a lawn fertilizer truck where the tech has a route and he decided to do an auction while on that route.......Wouldn't want to be them when their bosses found out.........add to the unemployment rate.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Post Storage Locker Gun Stories Here
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:53:02 AM »
Best I got was a 22LR PUMP made in 1906. Little rough but I'm a hunter so I cleaned the barrel and took it to camp. Remarkably the damn thing shot like new and was still very accurate. Saw an identical one at a gun show here and the old guy was asking 1600 for it. Found it on the net at a collectors site for 1200 so I figure mine is worth around 700. Haven't been able to bring myself to sell it yet///////

Flea Markets / Re: Anybody?
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:35:02 AM »
I'm in the ATL also. Heading up to the Pendergrass indoor flea market off 85N this weekend to check it out. On their website the say a 10x10 lockable space rents for $55. for a Sat/Sun. Thats not a bad deal for an indoor space. Up here in Marietta the only other fleas are outdoor and off Hwy 41 in Acworth and IMHO very nasty. Not where I want to set up.........Anyone know of any good indoor fleas up north? (Marietta, Woodstock, Canton, Cartersville, anywhere up Ga 400 like Alpharetta, Cummng, Buford etc)

What's it Worth?? / Avon Cologne and Perfume Bottles
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:19:55 AM »
Bought a small unit yesterday with about 30 old 78RPM records in jackets and two 1930's dressors (a matched set) that need some restoration. Got the unit for 100 when I opened the dressor drawers they were FULL of early avon bottles still in the original boxes. No two are alike so I figure this was someones private collection. I know avon bottles aren't worth much but I figured (and found on the net) that with the original boxes they'd be worth a little something. They range from cars to trains to animals. Gotta find a collector I guess (anyone know of someone?). At any rate there must be 40 bottles in original boxes. Any idea what these may be worth in total? Or anyone want a list and make me an ffer?

The trunk measures about 3 feet wide, 2.5 deep and high and has an inside top removable drawer. The leather straps are gone with the wind and sands of time (LOL) and it is in a hard used condition. I did some research on the net and similar ones in good condition are going for 700. Whats your best guess on this one?

I agree. There is so much paper that what I have started doing is only taking Photo's, birth and death certificates and tax returns back to the managers. Then I take the rest of the stuff and bag it up for recycling. My trash company gives us a full sized 60 gallon trash bin marked for recycling and they also take bags of recyclable materials and all for free. I buy the big heavy duty contractors plastic bags from home depot and put the paper stuff in that for recycling. Also, some of the local schools take bags of paper for recycling and I have done that also just to avoid dump fees and or huge loads of paper goods.

Here in Ga the auctioneer always covers those returns during his pre bidding speel............here they ask you to return all pictures, tax returns, bank statements, birth death certificates shot records etc etc to the facility manager who will call the renter and tell them to come pick it up. I do a presort as I unload the lockers opening up each box and removing those items and then when I leave ZI drop it off at the office. Takes a bit of time but makes me feel better for doing it.
