General Storage Auction Talk / Re: my first loss
« on: December 31, 2014, 08:35:11 PM »
Trash bags are used to keep dust off items also. Bought a 5x5 full of fishing gear and a large trash bag and a large styrofoam cooler. The trash bag had a like new high end Graco pack n play in it that paid for the unit. The cooler was full of hand tools. You just never know, which is why love buying lockers.

Right! I've had to sneak out a few times myself.  Oh, and long time no see Millertime, how've you been?
Very busy with a lot of overtime at my regular job, buying and selling always, keeping up with 2 high schoolers, etc.
Pop in to read what's going on but not much time to chime in. Will try to jump in a little more often and thanks for asking.

You promise your wife you're done buying for a while and go to an auction the next day.

Travis, please consider giving Facebook its own section in the Marketplace. This has become a huge selling venue for us and I'm sure many others. I think it may deserve a spot of its own. Thanks

Nice outdoor furniture for me also. 61 units and only a few miscellaneous chairs and tables. The hunt continues.

Craigslist / Re: Posting pics in Craigslist ads

I don't get the one picture ads either. We always put a bunch of pics in every ad. Many times I have loaded an item in the buyers vehicle without them even looking at it because "looked great in all the pics".

Craigslist / Re: New Craigslist Feature....benefits sellers

When you click on the "more ads by this user" button under the map, it will only show other listings in the category you are in. If you tap the category box and click the "all for sale/wanted " tab, all your listings will appear. It may take buyers time to get used to it, but I agree it will help sellers.

My wife does our listings and keeps  40-60 at any given time on one account. Don't know why you are having trouble Movieman.

. But with the news focused on UPS and FedEx not delivering on time, most folks are blaming the post office now.

Why are people blaming the post office for UPS and FedEx having delivery problems?

It has actually been a couple weeks since I sold anything it may be lower now but they usually pay about 90% of spot.  You might try Midwest Refineries if you have a good bit I think they pay something like 94%

Thanks

I have a couple guys I sell my gold and silver to.  they both pay about the same amount. right now it is about .50 per gram on silver and $24 per gram on 14k not sure about 10k haven't had any in a while.  The best part is they pay in cash.

I'd like to know how you are getting full market price for your scrap silver and gold. As of this writing, 14k is going for 23.49/gm and 925 silver .60/gm. The best I could get if I sold today would be about 15/gm and .38/gm. I have shopped many places and individuals to sell to and approximately 60% of full market value seems to be the best I can get. I have a nice stockpile of gold and silver from this year and would like some input on how to get more. Thanks.

Weird & Wacky Finds / Re: Opened the box and .... Awww Noooo!
« on: July 21, 2013, 11:42:47 AM »
Bought a unit earlier this year that belonged to a gay man. In the bottom of a box was a variable speed, oscillating toy. I wish I had a picture of my wife's face as she said " wow, that's big ". Happily, these finds have been rare for us.

Craigslist / Re: how far do you go testing appliances before selling them
« on: February 12, 2013, 02:16:42 PM »
the electric im not to concerned about im more worried about the gas parts

I was told you can get some kind of fitting for a propane tank to test the burners on a gas dryer. Never tried it, but it sounded good.

I always completely test appliances befors selling. Thinking of having a dryer plug put in the garage so I don't have to take them inside to test.

What's it Worth?? / vinyl 45's
« on: February 12, 2013, 01:58:02 PM »
I have a collection of 366 vinyl 45's with their original sleeves. They span the late 60's to mid 80's. All the big names from rock, pop and disco are there. Stones, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees etc. I have a solid offer of $100.00 for the lot, but a little unsure of their real value.  I prefer to sell them in one lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

« on: February 03, 2013, 08:55:55 PM »
My wife and I got up this morning and began listing items on Craigslist. By the time the Super Bowl kicked off we had 4 sales totaling $350.00 and another lined up for Monday. Hope everyone has days like this, they sure are fun.
