General Storage Auction Talk / Kayak question

Got a 10x20 sealed bid today and I am wondering how to determine a value on a used Kayak. Looks to be a 2 person.

I as well  have been gone for way to long. Been hitting auctions, but not getting much as pricces have been insanely high and not worth it.  I have also been selling Freeze dried food with my pops and other odds and ends at Gun and Knife shows around Michigan so I have had less time to get on the net.

Not going to spam the board but if anyone is interested in stuff like freeze dried food or selling it, PM me, I'd love to tell you more about it.

Have I missed anyones great finds?

Well I've found luck but not by winning a unit. Have a friend who is moving to Chicago and wants me to consign here lockers. They are 2 10x30's. She's giving me 30% of the sale total and she's on the hook for any garbage fees.  Good news is I stand to bank alot of cash bad news is the I actually must go though all her crap.

Rotflmao at today.

Went to a auction down in Benbrook TX today to show my aunt and uncle what a real auction is like, and was entertained with a jaw jacking fest/mini fight with a previous tenant.  So apparently I need to drive 1300 miles to witness something like this.

It was fun getting to check the scene in a different city.  It was also fun knowing I could have been a Whale for a day(uncle is loaded and he wanted me to get both units, but I refused to bid).

Then went to moe's place, interesting but everything was way overpriced, but when I talked to Moe's helper he said they overprice purposely knowing they will get undercut in negotiations. Like the teak bar he got from Lesa sold for $2200 but was in the store for 5 months. I guess he is an avid estate sale guy more then a storage guy.

If you guys ever get a chance, he has some nice stuff in his store, but you need to check out the whole area as the stores around are really something to look at.

I highly doubt it will sell.  However, as my daughter said about herself...."I've never taken one of those apart yet".  So will get the few bucks worth of scrap out of it and spend time with daughter.  Is part of the reason I do this.

Most I've found on a gift card so far was $33 or something like that to Best Buy.  Gotten a few $.40, buck here, two there, etc.  So far it's always been to a place I shop at anyways so I count that into my profit.  Is money I've not had to spend.

Good luck today - hope you have fun.

2 gift cards for me have been $50 sirius card and $10 coldstone card.

Btw almost 4 months into the year and I am 0fer on lockers. Can't buy a break right now.

I dont know if it helps utopia but I just got $11.50 for a 1937A 2 reich mark coin. Probably should have kept it, but I don't really care much for Swastika stuff.

The Lounge / Tax returns

What are you guys planning on doing with your returns.

I personally plain on buying a S&W 38 special or a 12 gauge shotgun since I haven't found guns in my units.

I hate having a full time job sometimes. Miss alot of the smaller auctions and only hit the rediculos ones. Then my dad and I are doing another business that takes more time. Only way with the way prices have been that we will make money. People are either redeeming at to high a rate, bids are out of control, or the units I've seen are pure ****.  Hell my next sealed bids have potential but the jokers are putting crazy bids there too.  I'm going to stick around because I love this, but I'd really love for some of these nut jobs to fall off the face of the earth. Damn tax returns.

End rant! Lol

Probably the smartest plan some unit tenants could make, sucks for potential auctions though.

I really hope Moe is the downfall of that show, most annoying thing about SWT, followed closely by Lesa.

Btw, I don't get spam from ST's site, usually get 2 emails from them a month though, but I think I set the account up that way originally.

Storage Auctioneers / Re: charging admission ????

Do what some places are doing a set up a refundable $50 payment.  Everyone pays 50 bucks up front, and you get a bid card. No bid card means you don't go into the auction.  This way the lookie loos are either removed or are at a bare minimum(as most lookie loos carry zero cash).

Did the popular auctioneer circuit today, happy to report numbers were down, but bids were too high and temps today were below freezing so lookie loos probably chickened out.
