General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Does Anyone Sell Textbooks?
« on: December 21, 2013, 07:23:58 PM »
I use bookscouter.com. They have a app for smart phones. I just sent in a little over $400 in books the other day. If the books are not worth much I put them in the store for .25 cents.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Unit Overload

Have fun with it. The most we have bought in one day is 6 units. It is hard to get through it all but worth it.

I would have loved to have bought this one. I would have paid $375.

All I use is my phone. It works just fine.

Yea it did not surprise me one bit that it is all fake. I just wish that they would show it like it really is. I have only bought two units this year because we keep getting so many newbies still. Two auctions ago I saw two boxes and old carpet padding go for $90. Just plain stupid to pay $45 a box just to see what is in it. Most likely 99% trash if they were storing used carpet padding.

I just talked with the auctioneer who auctioned that unit today. He was the auctioneer for the units today. He said they did not auction the car off because it was worth way more then what was owed. The show just made it look like they auctioned it off. The owner of the locker got it back.

Stores / Re: Opening up Retail Store
« on: June 14, 2013, 08:16:46 PM »
I would say think about it long and hard. I did swap meets for about 15 years then opened a store. I made more at the swap meet then I do with a store. When you have a store people always think they can come back and buy the items later. Also you have all the bills too. When you have a store front it becomes a 24/7 job.

Glad you did good on the units. Now if you could just send those kind of units my way. Good luck on selling the rest of it.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Box Truck or Enclosed Trailer?
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:37:46 PM »
I use a box truck and a trailer. I like both of them a lot. If you keep your eyes open you can get good deals on both. My box truck I got for $500 from a guy who needed money. It is a 1985 but looks good and runs good. My 12' duel axle trailer was $300. Mt other trailer which is a duel axle 12' also was $200. It took me about a year of looking and talking to everyone but it was worth it. So what I would say is just keep your eyes open and borrow a trailer tell you find a good deal.

Phil I would not say bad lockers just not great. I have never lost money on one. I have come close though. I picked up a unit in dec I wish I would not have. I picked up one of the boxes and two mice jump onto me chest ran down me and out the door. Fist time to see live mice in a unit. I see dead ones from time to time but that was a first. I live in a small town in the mountains so mice are common.

Hi everyone. I have reading this forum for a long time. Finally thought I sould speak up too. I am 27 and have buying units and selling since 12 years old. About the units now that are high. Auction last week I say a unit with about ten boxes sell for $400. People are just nuts now. They think ever unit is going to have the one item. Out of the 100s of units I have bought I have only a handful of real good units.
