BK was a total turn off for me. I could be wrong but the whole thing just screamed "scripted" to me.

  Me Too
I taped the series then started to fast forward through them , then just gave up and erased them all . ( To leave room for something Educational , Like Jerry Springer or Rosie )

I just found a reference ( and link ) to the RC Jet mentioned above in another forum , so the word on how fake the show is , is getting around .

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Can't get rid of the goods...help!

While you're at it, tell them to film an episode showing how glamorous it is to load up dusty, rat feces covered merchandise in 100 degree heat.

And having Beautiful Models in Revealing clothes doing it .
Or some of the SuicideGirls since they like to cross post between TV shows ( Like the All Brass Cash Register from Pawn Stars found in a locker  LOL )
That should bring the viewers back . ROFPIP

Not sure if I mentioned our trip to Ca. and Az for the winter in 2009/2010 before on here , but the wife winning $ 10,000 on a scratch ticket had a lot to do with it .    ;D
The State of Taxachusettes took there 1st share  right off the top , and handed Us a check for $ 7,000.

Ps
We did go to a couple of auctions when We weren't  12+ miles out in the desert looking for gold on the claims .
We didn't plan on buying  anything , but when Tom Hayward ( He does the PODS Auctions in Boston ) walked by Us and said Hi , He got about 20 feet , turned around   and said " Am I lost or Are You " with a Big Grin , it was Priceless .

Thanks for the very informative post .
I have never given any of the " Newer Gadgets " a thought before  last weekend .
We were at an auction in the back row , and the guy next to me made the remark  that there is a chip on the item the auctioneer is holding up ??? He then passed me his iPad with the auction zip picture of the item .
He bought an older unit ( didn't like the newer ones )  and does what you do with it , also on at&t @ $ 15.99 a mo.
We are seriously thinking getting one . Plus a Square for the Brimfield Flea Market .

Try selling it to one of the tv production companies for one of the storage auction shows , they should value it at $ 20,000 to $ 30,000 .    ::)

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Scrap metal - is it worth it?
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:42:27 AM »
The wife did a yard sale at a friends mothers house ( mom passed )  and we were offered the scrap metal in the basement , freezer , hot water heater , table saw , 2 A/C .
Went to look at it as I have a couple of A/C's to scrap  , and found motors pulled from appliances and saw and All Copper and Brass pulled from heater , just a tin shell ??
As our 18 ft car trailer has a truck on it and 12 ft. has our mining gemstone mining sluice on it with all the " stuff " from the last fair , I would have to rent a u-haul trailer as He wants it out ASAP .
One of the yards will take A/C's  and pay you ( most want $ 25+ to leave one )  at the " White Metal " price of $ 210 a ton for the WHOLE load (  Alum. , Copper , Steel Tin ,  etc. . )
I can't justify $ 30 plus gas and 3 or 4 hours to make $ 50 to $ 60 dollars .                                          I told him to call one of the many scrappers that answered his craig's yard sale add.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #3...March, 2012

A facility I thought was my personal honey hole brought in an auctioneer from Florida (not the metro guy) a couple of months ago. All I can say is this guy has a big following! There must have been over 200 people there. Crazy!

The prices were sky high and it took forever to see the contents of the lockers. If it weren’t for this guy having one of those great personalities I would have boogied down the road earlier. I won’t be going back to the facility.

Don't You just hate it when that happens ? Has happened to Us too , We are just biding our time till all the insane crowds and prices go back down .
These new idiots have to run out of money and storage space ( because most of what they are buying isn't saleable ) soon ( I hope ) .

Garage Sales / Re: Two sales a year ordinance
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:24:24 AM »
We have helped  friends / co-workers in the past with there yard sales by letting them use our tables , posting there add on Craig's , using our signs ,  and helping price there items ,  and  pulling items that are worth more $$ and Not Yard Sale items .
They usually ask if We want to set up a table or two .   LOL
We can usually have a yard sale at Home on Sat. , make around $ 250 + , then load up the maxi van with the leftovers and go to the Hubbardston  Flea Market 20 X 20 with 2 tables      for $ 30. and make another $ 120 to $ 200 +.     ;D

I like the prices in oklahoma city $85 -150 ,  but the cost of gas from Boston too Oklahoma to store and retrieve items would really suck .     ;D

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Best way to get a large quantity of product?
« on: February 20, 2012, 03:29:12 PM »
A few years ago someone tried to re-create " The Old Norton Flea Market " in a Gillette Stadium        ( home of the New England Patriot's ) parking lot , Advertising   FREE ADMISSION to ALL .
We raced over the first Sunday to check it out as a venue to sell at and get in on the ground floor .
We pulled and and stared past the Toll Booth at rows of vendors with NO ONE in front of them. or walking around either ??? ( THe Flea only lasted a couple of weeks )
They were charging $ 15. to park , We made a U like everyone else .
At least it was cheaper then the $ 60 charge for a football game .

  3 mattress's would cost Me $ 150. to dump " Locally "

I would tend to lean towards a " Little Signed Piece of Paper " saying what a person on the show can and can NOT talk about .
 Ex. Gold Rush Alaska
“I didn’t sign any contract. It was a true cowboy deal. It was just a deal that I’d get a cut of the gold,” says Dorsey.
With the result that He never got paid .
That handshake “cowboy deal” he’s referring to also meant he had no formal agreement with the Discovery Channel, thus he’s free to divulge details from the series before the episodes air.

This is the results of No Contract
