Craigslist / Any successful Craigslist sells?
« on: June 16, 2013, 08:35:33 PM »
I live in a small town of about 27,000 people, that are near many small towns near as well with a fairly good amount of people. I've had absolutely no luck at all selling on Craigslist. I've tried to sell many electronic items, sporting goods and house wear items, and have had NO LUCK! A few months ago I tried to advertise my car, a 2008 Dodge Avenger that was mint condition but had no success even advertising that. I'm curious if anyone has had really good luck, or bad luck like me.

Garage Sales / Re: Is theft a problem at your garage sales?

My garage sales in the past have been rather small, last summer I had a big sale and had a camera system set up. Everyone made jokes about it being lame, but it worked rather well. I had a lot of people want to purchase the camera system, it was fun.

Garage Sales / Re: Does Anyone Do Garage Sales On Sunday?
« on: June 16, 2013, 08:30:05 PM »
I haven't had a garage sale on a Sunday, however, I've seen them done and from what I can tell they are quite successful. You have a higher chance of getting people who don't work on Sunday and you might even get the church crowds as well.

Garage Sales / Re: Sources for finding garage sales

I find that the best garage sales are unadvertised, they are the ones with the random garage sale sign on the street. The best way to find a lot of garage sales is first by finding out if there is a 'City Wide' garage sale event. In my town, it happens twice a year. There Is a special paper made with all the addresses and descriptions of the items available at the sale. Craigslist can sometimes be a good place to find garage sale ads, however, they aren't always local.

I'm in the Northern part of Iowa. No storage auctions at all in the area. Most of the auctions here are random consignment and estate sales.

Hello Everyone, I'm Alex, I'm 20, a young entrepreneur from Iowa. I started my own business when I was 16, buying and re-selling products. Now, I currently specialize in specific products online. I also attend auctions to obtain products to sell online. Aside from internet sales, I also sell in a large antique mall in Des Moines, Iowa. I'm also a business consultant for brick and mortar stores as well as online stores. I have turned around many local small businesses and made them into success businesses, I've also done fill in management work for a very large electronics company. While running my own business and taking on many projects, I also attended high school and college during that time. Don't ask me what I all learned about though, sometimes it's hard to remember with so much stuff going on!

Anyway, I'm hoping to participate on this website often, if you have any questions or guidance on anything, feel free to contact me. I can help as much as I can.

I haven't. I've known about it since it launched, yet I never bother checking it. The example products used don't provide me with enough profit to bother messing with.
