Been my favorite read for the last couple of years even if I seldom post.  Too much to learn, too little to offer.  Hello out there!!!

public storage?
that means the auctioneer will be 2 hours late and once she does arrive she will sit in the office for another 45 mins doing paperwork.

:57:  Too funny.  I thought it was just the Public Storage around here.

Though the add appears to meet the letter of the law it is confusing since it appears the sale will take place at the facility AND online.  From other sources I have determined the actual process and decline to participate.

# 3 Ocala, FL is about 50 miles from me.  I've not shopped there (I can hit 5 – 10 a month within 35 miles) but I may give it a try.

Skewed info – that population given is inside the city limits of Ocala.  Less than half of the auctions advertised are within that political boundary.  The metropolitan and suburban area around Ocala has more population than the City.

More important than the number of auctions is the number of units – much more difficult to gather data on.

I have attended auctions in the closest large metropolis.  A number of chains with multiple facilities.  Some chains list all of their auction locations in one legal ad.  Others list each auction location in a separate legal ad.  There is often more than one chain offering auctions on the same day..  Not sure how SUAL handles that info, I don't use their website.

If your zip code in Florida then just do a search for "Florida public notices".  This should return a free search page for Florida legal notices using key words and newspapers of your choice.  Took me a while to uncover all of the newspapers in my buying area.

The ad does not comply in a number of ways.

General Storage Auction Talk / Interesting advertising for auction tomorrow
« on: November 14, 2014, 08:19:13 PM »
Interesting advertising for auction tomorrow.  First ad in a local paper today and noting that second ad will be tomorrow AND auction at 11:00 am tomorrow.  Never seen such a quick sale.  Wish I could be at this one.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Seniors at auctions

Were they bidding or just on a field trip after seeing Storage Wars?

I am 66 and there are always several that appear older than me.

One is buying units in support of a charitable organization that sells - all run by volunteers.

Another says his mother owns a flea market and he buys to stock the booth she operates.  "What ever it takes to keep her busy".

Both retired and usually show up with trailers and no help.  Some of us seniors get around pretty good.

Want to arm wrestle?  Or maybe a foot race - minimum of a mile?

Then why have the money?

Ronald Regan got a flat tax implemented (not 10%).  Over time Congress just changed it to a graduated tax again with exemptions for their cronies.  The Fair Tax repeals the 16th Amendment doing away with the income tax and therefore the IRS.  Let those tax bureaucrats find a job with only their knowledge of a nonexistent income tax code!

The Fair Tax is an imbedded tax.  If you purchase a new item for $100 with an imbedded tax of 23% then the initial cost of the item is $100/1.23 = $81.30.

You only pay tax only on what you spend, not what you earn.  There are exemptions for food and medications.

Most importantly as the Fair Tax pertains to storage auctions there is NO sales tax on used items.

This would only replace the federal income tax, not state, county or municipal taxes.

Read Neal Boortz's book on the Fair Tax and his follow-up clarifications.  Do away with the IRS and much of the corruption in Congress.
