Stories about Storage Auctions / Auction Scene #4....April, 2014
« on: March 31, 2014, 10:57:45 PM »
It's starting to be spring out there !

And, it's the time for April fools to reverse the trend. Buy wisely, report here on April crowds, prices, and hopefully success in buying lockers.

Craigslist / Re: Craigslist Crazies...March, 2014 Edition

I got another one. Not a total crazy, but going for it anyway.

I have an item listed close to $400...kind of a specialty item but Clist worthy as  well as could go on eBay.

So, the guy calls and says... "would you be interested in bartering anything for it."

I told him the value would have to be close and asked what he had.

"I have a dozen silver half dollars". I asked what they were worth.

"Anywhere from $13 each to one that's worth $75."

My suggestion to him was that he sell them to someone and then approach me with a cash offer.

"Oh, OK, maybe I'll try that".

*****

This old f**t apparently had never heard the expression "don't try to bs a bs'er". Now if he had said GOLD coins, we could have talked.

I'll never hear from him again and like I told him..."I'm never in a hurry to sell something. It just sits there and doesn't need to be fed, so what's the hurry?"

I've done over 200K a month on ebay consistantly ...

What is a typical NET for you on a 200K month?  I know it will vary, but humor me (us) and let us know what your net might have been in one of those months.

You will find quite a few articles here at --> http://onlinestorageauctions.com/blog/

Wow, the original poster here asked that question 3 months ago and never got an answer !

Not sure we have one. What "coin" do you have in question?

I found my answer to that question, but there's another question waiting for you at the link below:

It's like a game of chess. Sometimes you have to change your strategy to win the game!

Travis....  Do you play chess?

Except now the name change is onlinestorageauctions. My, my, my how quickly things change in such a short time.

Charli...    Are you still writing for Travis?

You can get almost all the practice you want with this robotic ping pong partner.

It doesn't serve, but other than that it seems to work pretty well (at least at a certain pace).

Do you remember when you first signed on to the world wide web in 1993 ?

Yep, it's 25 years old on 3 12 14 but before that one could join outfits like Compuserve and AOL as portals.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Safe !

I think that's a "safe bet."

Gee, where have I heard that before?  Oh yeah, I said it.

General Storage Auction Talk / Safe !
« on: March 11, 2014, 07:33:32 AM »
No, it's not what the ump says as the player slides home, it's what the avid storage auction buyer wants to say when he digs at the back of a just bought locker!

Now, when the safe is visible from the front of the locker when the door goes up, that's another story.

It's comical how crazy people get at an auction when there is a safe in locker.  The bidding gets outrageous on the hopes and dreams of riches.  Rationality goes right out the window.

Now’s the chance for active members in March, 2014 to chime in on their experience with safes.

Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Auction ?
« on: March 09, 2014, 08:43:04 PM »
Does anyone know the laws for a individual having a small auction?

My guess is they are as varied as the states and the conditions under which they are held. You can bet that each state has an auctioneer licensing board and they have some kind of requirements, none of which I'm guessing would be met by Joe Sixpack hollering out from behind his tables at the flea market.

I don't think that is a winning option, but pricing stuff super cheap is always a winner at the end of the day or weekend.

Whoops....too busy picking I guess, but here it is.

March 9, 2014....

In like a lamb?  That's the weather here in central California but elsewhere super rainstorms are creating mud slides down near LA and Montana had an avalanche that killed at least one person.

So, weather wise it's a mixed bag.

I'm going to a few auctions this week with a piece by piece being my favorite.

No one has posted anything on the forum for the last 18 hours or so, so I thought a 30 second lesson in how not to drive a car was in order.

There is an annoying sound for about 20 seconds of the 30 second video, but watch it all the way to the end, and I can almost guarantee you will replay it.

Now to see if she follows up...she's inquired twice, delivered a halting question/answer session, etc. Will she be a flake or a winner?

I could have bet money on this one. Flake of the highest order...well, maybe not the highest, but right up there.
