Stories about Storage Auctions / OMG why would someone store this?
« on: March 07, 2012, 01:37:57 AM »
I picked up a storage unit in the little town of Dana Point California! One of the most affluent towns in the nation.  10 x 25 only $2200.00.  Seems expensive but I'm going to more than triple my money.

Anyways I finally get to the back. In the back right corner I find a really old chest.  Open up the chest and there are some old family photos and some really old dolls. At the bottom of the the chest there is a bag from the apple store with a black box in it. Hmm weird to find an apple store bag in here.  I pull the black box out to read the label on it. I pulled it out sideways and the lid popped open and this white to gray looking dust spilled out and went all over me. I turn it upright and the box label I can barely make out. It f-ning says crematory on it.  bla bla bla remains of ......!!!! Yes I got sick to my stomach.  As I'm upchucking my wife keeps going whats wrong whats wrong. I'm just trying to forget what happened.

eBay / Quick price app to use at auctions and for listing
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:29:20 AM »
This is an app I use for finding the lowest price on the internet fast.  This works great when you have to make split second decisions. It also uses your phone to list things on amazon real fast.  As we unload out of the unit into the trucks, we use this app on our phones to list on amazon. We often see sells before we unload the units back at our place.  Amazon, for those of you who don't use it, sells items faster for us because most people that apply for credit cards at amazon get them.  Here is the droid link

for $5 bucks you make or save a ton of cash and time.

Anyways my 2 cents of a trick of the trade that we use.

Craigslist / Listing On CL Advice
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:58:41 PM »
Here are few things that I do that have helped get more sales and top dollar on CL. If anyone else has any ideas plz chime in.

1: I list free local delivery.

This had led to a ton of sales on refrigerators and furniture. Over 50% of the sells I deliver and they buy just off the CL pics posted, because they don't have transportation.

2: I try to always take pictures with the storage unit seen in the back of the picture. I don't know why but I have gotten higher dells volume since I started this practice.

3. I put we accept Visa Paypal And Cash. Square.com has a free app for your smart phone to take credit cards.

4. I give out business cards to every sell and ask them if they are looking for anything else. Often times I have what they need already and up sell them.

5. The obvious.... always post pictures

West / Californians Beware
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:13:26 AM »
There has been a rash of lockers being broken into after the auctions.  It has been a lot of the top teir lockers. I have a few of my own get hit.  They either cut your lock or the hasp on the door so there is no real way to keep them out.  Its allways the bigger units 10 x 20 and up that I have heard of so far.

The Lounge / Cartomizers for e cigarettes
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:09:53 AM »
I picked up about 3k cartomizers for e-cigarettes. They have a retail value of 7.95 each. That's not my style though, just looking to move them fast.  I looking for 6 grand for the lot.  Anyone wants to pick them up you can sell them for four times that but it will take a few months.  Unless you know people that own smoke shops than you could probably move them for 12 k fast. I don't know any smoke shop people.  Please post here or PM me if you are interested. And no don't bother trying to low ball me. Do your homework before doing such a foolish thing and understand the good deal your already getting.

West / So Cal here!
« on: November 29, 2011, 10:12:40 PM »
Hello.  Saying hi from so cal to see if there are others in the area.   I took the dive today and went out to the auctions.  Saw 26 auctions today at 4 facilities and only bid on one.  Well... the bid went to high and to say the least it was a fun day.
