Garage Sales / First yard sale this year
« on: March 25, 2012, 11:05:45 AM »
We had a yard sale at my sisters house, we didn't advertise.   We put up signs around her neighborhood the morning of the yard sale and  by the time we got back to her house people were there. We stayed busy all day.  It was a very pretty day, and people were out in crowds!

We did really well $405.   We plan to have another next weekend or maybe the next.  We sold a ton of clothes!  I was ready to donate them, they are all name brand.  We have plenty more things that we can add to the sale, and maybe some of our furniture too.

Does anyone know anything about vintage pens and pencils.  I am having a hard time researching these.  I found a large box full of them some are pretty neat, but don't now what they are.

If you know a site that would be helpful, I would appreciate it

Thanks in advance

Flea Markets / MY First Time
« on: February 09, 2012, 05:08:28 PM »
Yesterday I setup for the first time at a flea market, honestly before this and my Antiques mall/indoor flea market ventures (all started in the last week) I have just sold to people I know and ebay.

I have checked this flea market out twice in the past month and it has been pretty dead, but since it is 2 miles down the road and I visted it many times as a kid during the summer I thoght it would be a good place to get a feel for it before I travel 25 miles to a much larger flea market next week.

I setup a little after 7 and there were maybe 20 vendors there.  This was about as many or a lil more than were there my 2 previous.  Vendors were showing up until around 8:30.  By then I had sold about half of what I sold all day. It ended up being much more vendors maybe 30-40.

I did much better than expected for this small flea market.

After gas and breakfast I made $180 minus cost of products.

I got a good feel for what sells, I think I sold some things for much lower than anyone else but thats why I went to sell.

Flea Markets / My adventures at the Antique/flea market
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:52:52 AM »
I rented 2 booth spaces yesterday, do not know if it is a good deal or not ($90 a month for both and 10% commision).  Is this normal?

Ths is a very large and often crowded mall.  She says they stay full and only had 3 spots open.  Seemed like there were more spots than that oped but whatever.

Everyone there was really nice, and answered all my questions. I asked if they knew where i could get some shelving to put my items on and they offered to try and find some of theirs that i could use.  They also offered me some clothing racks but I allready have some.

Even though they may be giving me some sheving I have spent all morning on the computer adn going from store to store in town pricing some shelving. I bought 4 metal shelving units for $20 a piece to start with.

Right now I am over whelmed, with finding and putting together shelving and now I need to go through 2 rooms at my house full of things and select what to send to the mall and what to keep for the regular flea markets.  Then I need to tag and price every item.

Whew I feel like I will never get done and I just started  LOL

Other Forms of Selling / Yard Sale Site on FB
« on: January 10, 2012, 06:30:30 AM »
In my  area there is a site dedicated to just our area on FB.  My site is Rome Yrad Sale.

Things seem to move quickly (even clothes and furniture).  People even post what they are looking for (mostly smart phones and cases).

You just post what your selling as a comment with picture.

Some of you might like to start a site like this for your area, seems like you just setup a FB page like it is someones and send out as many friend request as you can.

I have only sold 2 items on here, but you can see by the post things move quickly.

Flea Markets / yard sale-flea market ordinace
« on: December 14, 2011, 07:38:32 PM »
The little city next to mine passed a new ordinance stating that a person or address can only have a flea market  or yard sale once every 30 days?

Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Sounds ridiculous to me, why would there bea ordinance for this?

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / Hello from Georgia
« on: December 13, 2011, 08:49:53 PM »
Hello everyone.

I'm new to storage auctions and forums.  I have bought 2 units so far, no "wow" factor but I did make a profit.  I have been reading this forum for a couple of months and it is very informative.  I handle property preservartion (trashouts on foreclosed houses) and I come across many cool things that I sell. You probably wouldnt believe the things people leave behind. I have been doing this for about 10 years, and I have collected many antiques and collectibles.  I do alot of resale so this is just another way to expand what I already do.  Thanks for all the information.
