Garage Sales / First garage sale this year!
« on: April 28, 2012, 07:53:09 AM »
And it has been VERY successful! I have ~300sqft of stuff sold and I still have today and tomorrow. Finally have been able to get to most of the collectibles and what doesn't sell will go to my booth. It will be a great feeling this week to have my wife park in the garage again. Ohh, and yesterday alone puts me at 3x my investment for the storage auction and put me in the black for 2 regular auctions.

So this came from the last auction we got 2 units from. I haven't been able to find much information on it. Wondering you fine folks might point me in the direction of figuring out when it was made (my guess 1918-1920) and what I should be looking to get out of it...

The damage...

I also have 5-7 of these some used others BRAND NEW! Some are plastic case some are in a leather case.

eBay / eBid?
« on: March 08, 2012, 02:25:17 PM »
So Ebay just kills me with their fees and paypal...  I read an article about ebay and their were a bunch of comments about eBid (in business since 1999 or something).  Flat 2% commission on sales and allows paypal, google, etc for payment.  Anyone have any experience with eBid?

I can't really afford to sell on Ebay.  They eat up too much of my profit for too little bidding.  Maybe I am doing something wrong, but all of my recent auctions only have 1 bid right at closing.  eBid has an auto extend feature which adds 60 seconds from the time of the last bid - would prevent sniping if I list some of the collectibles.

Other Forms of Selling / Silverware
« on: February 29, 2012, 10:49:39 PM »
So as I am getting into the boxes from my lockers I am coming across stuff that I would't have with my previous reselling... So I intend to ask lots of questions. If you care to help, great. If not, great :)

I have ~30 pieces of silverware - silver plate. They are all discolored and dull. My question is do you clean them before attempting to sale or leave as is? I was planning on putting on eBay if that affects the decision at all.

Other Forms of Selling / Firearms?

So I am pretty up to speed on Craig's, eBay, etc... Where do you sell firearms? We will have a garage sale and am sure I can sell them at that... But we had several from the lockers we bought. All have been checked by PD. I just don't know best place to sell.

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / Hello from Colorado
« on: February 26, 2012, 10:41:31 PM »
Just stumbled onto the website. I have been buying (auction and craigslist) and reselling for some time. I saw the show everyone seems to hate. I and my best friend bought our first lockers (2 10x20) 4 weeks ago. We got 2 lockers that were a third tools, third collectibles, and a third hoarders. That was a lesson... Took three days and a 25'x8'x6' dump truck to clean out the units. We were in them for $1,200, not including expenses, but broke even this weekend and my ~1,000sqft garage is still packed! We are toying with a brick and mortar location or something else... Anyways, just wanted to say hello.
