General Storage Auction Talk / Where everyone go?

Hello is anyone around?

General Storage Auction Talk / Time to start selling again.
« on: September 14, 2015, 05:09:01 PM »
Been busy for some time, repairing an old house.  Now it is time to start selling again and make some money.  Auction houses around here want 40%, so I will just have to sell it in the yard.

We bought 4 units last week and in the worst unit we found some papers from a Patent Attorney in Ohio.  There was about 10 packets, each having patent request from companies and individual.  drawings and letters about requesting for the attorney to get them a patent.  One was for a head light, another for a water cooler and another for a flour shifter.   What can I do with them?

Online Storage Auctions / Online Auctions not for me.
« on: September 10, 2014, 03:39:12 AM »
I been watching some of the auctions that "Storage Battles" auction site has on it.  To tell you the truth I think that I will stay away from online auctions. The pictures really are crappy. You can't smell what it's like and other people can run up your bid and never intend to pay.  So what happens when you pay for the unit, open it up and find out its crap, but if you seen it in a live auction you would have walked away.

General Storage Auction Talk / When to say it must go?
« on: August 20, 2014, 12:18:51 PM »
When do you give up on trying to get a good price for stuff.  I have stuff that I know is worth good money, but people are not wanting to buy.  I try to separate the stuff in selling types, like eBay, CL, yard sale and donations.  When do you just say its time to go... I hate to just give stuff away, but I don't want to keep it either....

General Storage Auction Talk / Cool Cam
« on: March 01, 2014, 04:06:33 PM »
The other day I found a Polaroid cool cam 600 at a thrift shop for 3 bucks.  It looked cool, but I knew that I was not going to do anything with it.   So I placed it on eBay.  Bam bam bam.... Sold it for 42 bucks.
So far this week it was good for selling hub caps (74 + shipping) from a Nissan and old boat teak scraps. (20 + shipping ).   Small but profitable. :)

General Storage Auction Talk / My find of the day.
« on: January 20, 2014, 07:19:57 PM »
I went to an estate auction Saturday just for something to do.  Normally, the auctioneer would run all the boxes of crappy stuff first, and then the good stuff.  Which means that I had to wait for hours. The only thing that I wanted was some old books.  I did end up paying $33.00 for the books, but there were 5 boxes of them.  There was a few copyrighted in the late 1800ís and a lot before 1915.  There was one book that got my attention.  ďJunior Birdmen Standard Aviation DictionaryĒ 1935 co-authored by C.B. Colby.  I Googled it and found plenty of information about it, but no one has any for sale.  Looks like a good thing for Ebay.

« on: August 15, 2013, 11:11:01 AM »
Well it's been six months on my 10x10 store and calling it quits.  Yes, I made money but she wants to limit the big items.  The small stuff is easy enoought to sell, i was counting a place for the big stuff.  Besides that she was ripping me off,  i noticed items gone but not paided for... enought is enought...

General Storage Auction Talk / I can see the Walls, really.
« on: August 02, 2013, 11:55:15 AM »
Finally, I can down to my last truck load to move out.  I can see progress happening.  The wife just wants to donate it all, but I still see a few hundred bucks coming my way before donation time.  I have got to find a better way of buying and selling the stuff.  Easy to buy; longer to sell.  I have made a lot of money on the units, but I have to find a more productive way to sell.  I need to find a way to quit manhandling all the boxes of crap.  I think it is time to buy an enclosed trailer.

Whenever I die, my kids are going to hate me for keeping a lot of stuff out of the units.  I just canít help myself, Iím not a hoarder, and Iím a collector of lots of things.  The funny thing of it is, when the wife and I was going thru this stuff we came to the beanie babies, 5 big totes full.  I asked her what do you want to do with them.  It took her 2 or 3 minutes to decide to  keep them.  What are we going to do with a thousand of them?

Did I mention were are trying to move to Florida??

Flea Markets / Haitian people ar flea markets, suck
« on: July 21, 2013, 09:02:47 AM »
Yesterday at the flea market went good, mad some money, donated some stuff, which equals to moving it.
When the haitian people come, it sucks, they will steal you blind.  I lost what little respect I had for them.
