Storage Auctioneers / charging admission ????
« on: February 07, 2012, 07:37:39 PM »
This is an ad from St. Louis auctioneer:       UPCOMING STORAGE SALE SCHEDULE

**NOTE** These numbers are very likely to change before sale times....For those of you who do not understand how this works , the tenants have right up until the time that the sale starts to come in and pay off their delinquent balances, so that locker would not be sold as advertised.

**NEW POLICY- Effective 1-25-12 ALL FACILITIES - Due to the ever increasing crowds showing up at storage auctions, there will be a $5.00 per person  ( that means every wife, child & friend) , not per buyer cover charge at each location, refundable with purchase. This money goes to the facility.

We are experiencing a large number of people that are there with no intention of buying lockers, bringing their children, which increases our time selling each unit.

All of our time is valuable. Where it was 5-10 minutes to show & sell a locker, it's now taking 20-25 minutes, and it's costing storage facilities several hours at each location from start to finish doing paperwork. **

WE STILL WELCOME EVERYONE TO ATTEND

At least they tried to balance out the 3 or 4 fantastic finds with a couple of nods to the trash, the hard work and the usual payoffs, but still it is the $27,000 piece of jewelry and the $1500 in Benjamins found in a $35 lkr.

Rat.....

With almost 7 days of time spent here on the fourm (according to the statistics) but only 8 posts, I know you are mostly a reader and not a poster, but my question is, are you in fact a BUYER of storage auction lkrs?  And if so, how about sharing some of your personal experiences in addition to your posts about youtube videos. Hmmmm ?

Been doing it part time for 6 years, bought 188 units. Most units are nothing to talk about. Have not bought anything in awhile. Most the units I bought where $200 or less. I live in the cornfields not to many sale that are close to me. Thats about all your going to get out of me. Not into making videos either. Thanks for your caring

RulesRebels, do you happen to have a link for his site?...would like to see it

I applaud him for posting this

I/we do "by the piece" auctions and he is spot on, saying most contain "Household" stuff.
I wish I had a nickel for every bag of clothes, toaster oven, mircowave, junk TV, crockpot, blender, busted kerosene heater, junk pressboard dresser and bookcase we have sold or tried to sell over the years...I'd be sailing 'round the world instead of posting this...

we have resorted to just "making a pile" of clothes in bags, by the door and selling the whole lot at once.

the thing that gets me is, the folks that will pay retail or above for this "Junk"....seriously who in their right mind, pays 28.00 for a pair of small kerosene lamps(metal & glass type) made in china...just boggles my mind!

later

She does them part time. It is her second job.  She always had a good crowd way before the tv shows. She use to put them on auctionzip has stopped that also. Most of her auctions are around St. Louis. She seems to be one of the better auctioneers.

Today takes the cake on lookey lunacy. At one of the boony auctions no less.
official count 162. And I have to wonder if that was just sign in sheet, because I thought more like 200 or better.
These guys where with the program. Get there to sign up. Coolers fill with drinks .50 all proceeds to local charity. Manager is out directing traffic. I'm thinking, looks like a sporting event. And guess what? They must have thought the same thing. Cause they gather everybody up in front of the auction and the owner sings the National Anthem. And they where filming it for utube. can't wait. I'll try to post a link when I find it. was up few minutes ago.

here the link what a circus
