eBay / Re: Account Sell Limits
« on: February 20, 2012, 06:32:16 PM »
I just got an email that they reduced my seller limits because it appeared I have another account.

Turns out I did, but had forgotten about it.  Cancelled that one.

They won't restore my limits, though.  eBay kinda pisses me off sometimes.

According to the lawyer from the show Obscura on the Science channel (I know, I know: it's official, right?) body parts ARE legal to sell as long as it has no more medical value.  Selling a good, usable liver is a big no-no, but stuff that's been preserved for science and **** is okay.

Makes sense to me.

Now moving on to a little bit of a 'bigger ticket' item.  Mountain Buggy Urban Double Stroller:

Lightly used, has some scuffs but this thing is built VERY solid.  Retails new for around $700.  Just gotta find that active mom with two kids....

It's on CL as of yesterday, my buddy wants to put it on eBay but I think it's a bit much to ship.  It doesn't fold down so we'd have to disassemble it.  Probably weighs 40lbs, maybe a little more.  What do you all think?

I never would have guessed that I'd start out reselling children's items....

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #2...February, 2012

Went to three different auctions yesterday.  All had about 20-30 people.

The very first unit at the first stop ended up being the one I missed: a refrigerator and chest freezer, two cb radios, cheap bicycle and skateboard and totes/boxes went for $80.  I bid up until what I felt was the scrap price for the fridge/freezer and then stopped.  In hindsight I wish I would have kept going.

One locker with office papers (a lot!) went for $125 because there was a burton snowboard case leaning in the corner.  I know snowboards are loot but I thought it was kinda high...

At the last stop a bunch of friends were just toying with each other and bidding each other up on trash.  small locker with two pieces of medium luggage (that's it!) went for $135.

You can learn a lot by attending these with an open ear...

Just wanna say this is an awesome board.

I'm a newbie, decided to start doing this with a friend.  We've been to one caravan that hit up three different facilities.  Just watched, didn't bid.

Going on another caravan Friday.  Excited!

And happy to be here. Tons of great info when you poke around.

The Legos put me in the positive and then they took some of the other smaller items too.  Matchbox cars, animal figurines etc.  The place was really looking for clothing (hah! that shouldn't be a problem) and furniture sans car holders and cribs (recall issues).

Talked to the two owners for a bit and am glad to be friendly with them as I'm sure I'll run across some children's clothing sometime.

Didn't get to unload everything from the bin and I feel like a lot of it would do well at a flea market/yard sale.  To small/cheap to piecemeal.  I'm not ready to pitch it yet.

Answered an ad on CL for a lady that had a room full of items to sell.  Knew of a kids resale store so decided to try and make a couple bucks on the toys. Bought whole lot for $10.  I'm hoping they'll at least want the Legos.  I cleaned and sorted everything.

Going to sell very soon.  I'll let you know how it goes.  At the very least I'll make a good contact at the store.

Also bought all her DVDs for $8.  Sold immediately to a used CD store for $13.  Starting small here.
