Can you lead me towards a website or something so I can find out a little about his stuff?  Whats wanted, what's a good price?

Estate sale this morn and nothing like last one but little room in basement had a set up. Radio's, osiliscopes (sp?), other stuff I don't even know what they were.

I don't know what I'm looking at or what to offer......Or (besides you) where to sell.

You can look at eBay and see basically what items go for and kinda base prices off there.
Prices depend on the working condition, cosmetic condition, and age.  Also, demand/popularity determines a lot of price too.

Items that are good to pick up would be 10 meter radios, and popular cb radios.  Oscopes tha work are always a good buy.  Most equpment will be hit or miss unless you know what u r looking at and if it works.

If you are going to sell any cb radios or test equipment, you will have to be able to test them and repair items to get a decent price.  If you can not honestly tell the condition of the item, most anyone will be looking at them as a parts or repair item, which as u know will bring a low price, unless it is just a highly sought after item.

You can search out the items on the net and get information for each one, as far as what they are, how they work, and what they are for.

When it comes to selling you can sell on different websites, forums, craigslist, and ebay.  And of course, I will be happy to buy stuff that I can resell or use in my shop, as long as I can work a profit in for my shop.

The only reason I can deal with cb radios and related equipment with ease is because I have been troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, modifying, and selling them for 7 years.

If you want to ask more questions, please email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to answer them for you.  I just do not want to turn this thread into a Q&A session since it is not in a category for that.

Y'all are killing me.

Few weeks back it was the post on how well car models were selling on eBay....the day after a huge estate sale full of them.

Now this post where everything you list was up for sale......LAST weekend!  >:(

Guy had whole wall of garage with equipment and radios and all that.
But I guess I wouldn't have know what a good price to get it for was anyway.......in fact I didnt know wht a good 75% of the stuff was.

But still.

Your making me want to cry.  I've only been that lucky a couple of times.  Once a cb shop shut down and guy skipped town in the middle of the night.  The owner of the building gave me everything in there just to get it cleaned out.  Another decent one, a couple months ago I dropped $500 on about $3k worth of equipment a hobbyist just wanted to get out of his way since it had been stored since 1998 in his hobby shop.

I wish I coule have seen this guys stuff.  I need to find a garage sell that has a wall full of equipment.

Let me know what you find in citizen band radios, base or mobile, and accessories.  Also, may be interested in some ham equipment if price is right.

I have a cb radio sales and service center I own and operate as a part-time gig (hobby that pays for itself, lol).

Items I mostly look for

CB radio equipment:

1.  mobile cb radios - newer 10 and 11 meter radios, some vintage depending on model and price
2.  base radios - depending on model
3.  rf amplifiers
4.  accessories - microphones (hand held or desk top), gear keepers, etc.

Electrical Test Equipment:

1.  Older Oscilloscopes
2.  Watt meters - Bird, Dosey, Simpson
3.  Frequency Counters
4.  B&K CB test center
5.  Frequency Generator
6.  Audio Tone Generator

Technical Publications:

1.  Sams Photofacts
2.  any books cb radio related, including old magazines

I also am looking for two decent hf mobile radios if anyone has some for a good price.

PM me here or shoot me an email to [email protected]

eBay / Re: Sports Card selling on eBay - A lesson w/ a current example

You are welcome.

A lot of people think they have gold in every sports card they find.  They don't understand that the ones that hit homeruns on cards have a system like I do, and almost always ends up being a rookie with a bust out season during the said season.

eBay / Sports Card selling on eBay - A lesson w/ a current example
« on: November 19, 2011, 07:22:23 PM »
I know a lot of people read my last posting on this subject.   If not, here is a link:

http://storageauctionforums.com/index.php?topic=1269.msg5751#msg5751

I mainly want to reiterate the timming issue.  Timming is key to almost any form of selling.

Here is a perfect example of what all I talked about in my first post about eBay selling sports cards.

In this lesson, I will start with how I acquired the card and why, then how I am selling, with links to each.

Let's begin the lesson..........

Dallas Cowboys

DeMarco Murray

2011 Topps Prime Level III

Patch Autograph

Numbered 24/25

Acquisition of the card and a bit of football knowledge:

Every year I look at the new rookie class during pre-season games.  I usually stick with my team, Dallas Cowboys.  This year, I saw a very promising young running back rookie named DeMarco Murray.  He had a good pre-season, so I knew one day he would be a decent player.

DeMarco’s cards were selling fairly cheap on eBay, so I bought an Autograph patch card of his for my personal collection.  I then decided that since they were so cheap and I have some extra money, I would buy a few more, 5 total autograph cards.

The last card I purchased was the one in this lesson.  Well, 3 days after I purchased the card, the starting running back was injured (Felix Jones) and the backup running back (Tashard Choice) became the starter, leaving DeMarco Murray as a backup.  That game he rushed for over 200 yards, beating some of the record holding Cowboys running back’s (Emmitt Smith) rookie records.

Well, guess what happened.  Tashard Choice was cut from the team and DeMarco took over as starting running back.  He rushed for over 100 yards in the last 4 games, a couple were over 200 yards.

Here is where I purchased the card on eBay for $29.55.

Selling the card:

With the awesome 4 games DeMarco had recently, his cards have skyrocketed in value, like the example of Ben Roethlesberger in my last thread.

Well, again, timming is key.  If I sell now I am guaranteed to make a tremendous profit.  If I wait and he gets hurt, I will not make anything, or I could make even more.  I chose now to sell.   If I waited till next year, it will not even sell for book value.

So, I am selling while he is hot and there is a major feeding frenzy.  Think of it as chumming for fish.  You throw chum out and the fish will hit anything, even bubble gum.

Here is my listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320796794361?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I added some enticement to get the price up more.  I offered two bonus selling price level s.

I posted it for a 7 day auction that will end on Thanksgiving night at midnight.  That gives 2 more games for him to kick ass and boost the price more.

Ten minutes after I posted it, I had a starting bid of $99.99.  That’s right people, my starting bid was more than 3 times what I paid!  The next morning, the bid was at $102.50.  This morning the bid was up to $173.50.  At this minute, not even two days into the auction, the bid is at $196.50!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bid right now is more than double the price of what the same exact card sold for less than a week ago.

So, the lessons to learn are timming and knowledge of the sport you are trying to sell cards for.

If a rookie is hot as hell, sell during that season.  Do not wait till the next year because the frenzy will be over and you will kick yourself in the ass like I did over the Miles Austin RC cards I did not purchase a couple years ago!

I had a guy drive about 140 miles to buy all of my Hotwheels, Matchbox, and other die-cast cars.  A large lot of about 400 pieces in packages and more out of the packs.  He paid me $453 for the whole lot.

Now I am trying to move the Nascar collection.  I couldn't get him to load it with the other stuff, lol.

LoneStarAds.US

Cant leave that one off the list!  Free to list, free storefront!

I have registered on LoneStarAds.US, and have set up a store front, and have already posted 3 ads.  It is very easy to use.

I am off work for at least a week on disability insurance because of a rotator cuff injury, and I will try to post as many ads as I can on there.

wow u r a really nice friend that is alot of work!!

LOL.  I am a little nice, but not as nice as it sounds.  I ended up buying everything from him for $400 when I was loading the last load.  I wanted to be able to sell the stuff at my own pace.

Have you kept track of you hours you have spent on this project

Yes.  I spent a total of 16 hours doing inventory, taking pictures, and inputing the data in the computer.  It took about 2 hours to load and transfer everything to my house.  So I have 18 hours total time invested.

It took a little while, but I made it in to the profit area for this collection I am selling.

I sold six of the Nascar 1:64 trucks and one 1:18 Nascar car for $28 a couple months ago.

A guy just left my house today with the entire non-Nascar part of the die-cast collection.  He gave me $443 for them all.

So, I now am on the profit side by $71 and I still have well over half of the collection left to sell.

There is a booko.com for my area.  It is for a town about 20 miles from my house.

I went to the one close to here, and there are 6 listings total, and only 1 is for a real item, lol.  It is for a big bag of toddler toys.

I guess I should start piling it full of ads, since mine will be from only one of two real sellers on there.

It looks to have a lot of potential, as long as it does not get completely spammed like a lot of local free classified ad sites.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: how to build up a clientel
« on: August 04, 2011, 12:58:35 AM »
One more section people seem to overlook on CL is the "barter" section.

If you are having trouble moving something, list it in the barter section for trade, or find someone who has stuff you need or could sell easier, then trade them.

I have traded items for things I want and for someting that was easier to sell.

I just thought I would bring this up in this forum section, since there is not a forum technical prolem section.

I just recieved 5 notifications about an hour ago, that were from 2 months ago.  There were 4 topic replies and 1 private message notification.  I already replied to all 5 almost two months ago, lol.

****update**** While I was posting this topic, I received another notification from July 7th.
