General Storage Auction Talk / bidder with no money
« on: March 06, 2011, 08:06:33 PM »
I have heard of this on this site and from a friend. I haven't been out last week and half. So haven't seen it first hand. I will be making a run Tues. and will get clarification from auctioneer. But anybody got any info on what happens when somebody bids up units, wins and doesn't have the cash. The case I heard from my friend was at one of the Boonie places. Independent owner was trying to make arrangements with the bidder to go get the money.
I plan to make this one of my ?s before auctions start. And I think now I will start hanging around at pay up time even if I don't win a unit.  ;D

How long you have been a member. How many post. Your entertainment value. I think maybe have a resume. Pick an item and see who can get the most $ for. My pick is a ironing board. Lets have a contest.

one and two liners to blow off steam.

my partner ran us $30 on unit bidding against me today.
Dumb a@@

Sorry I stepped on your kid lady. Hey can I send him in the next unit with a camera.

just off the cuff remarks about this game we are playing.

Plus as much fun as it is buying a unit is . my flea market - yard sell bizz is a world of it's own.  and one could not be,  without the other.

Stories about Storage Auctions / 2nd time out with the lookies
« on: February 16, 2011, 07:19:24 PM »
well it is official for me. went on 2nd run this year. this was one of my regular runs last year. (I am a warm weather guy) Last time I went on this run there were maybe 6 or 8 people at the start and at most 12 on the end closer to downtown. Today 75 at the start. Even the auction coordinator (the person who reps the storage unit) was freaked. In my opinion every unit sold for at least twice what it should have.
Just to have some fun I ran a $5 unit to $20. Me and 1 more guy bidding, it gets to $20 and 2 more start bidding. The thing went for $65 UFBle.

My next run is the boony run. If there are that many out there I may have to find a new hobby.

Stories about Storage Auctions / income tax refunds
« on: February 15, 2011, 11:45:32 AM »
Yesterday I went to my first auctions in couple months. Last was not long afters new auction shows started. Crowds where noticeably larger then. But prices where not that much higher. Not to many people bidding most just looking. Yesterday was stupid prices. Couple of the regulars where saying it was because of income tax returns. Any of you guys see the same.
