The Lounge / Tax returns
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:38:03 PM »
What are you guys planning on doing with your returns.

I personally plain on buying a S&W 38 special or a 12 gauge shotgun since I haven't found guns in my units.

General Storage Auction Talk / Look at this potential
« on: January 02, 2012, 05:04:34 PM »
Yeah, rims, tires, tranmission, welder and 50cc dirtbike.  Got a figure in mind for this puppy!  Thinking $550 to 600 on this one, going by fact the tires look so so, don't know if the welder is a top of the line, don't know what brand the 50cc bike is, and I don't know what that trans is to or if it's even good.

Remember this unit?  This unit was supposed to go up in September, got redeemed(Was originally in a thread I created about matresses).  It's back, if it goes up should I worry about stuff being taken out?  I ask becasue I compared pictures from September to now and it's the same picture.  So I am guessing the units gone untouched again since September if it does not warrant taking a new photo.  Really thinking I can score this unit for about $400 to $450(same place i got my other 10x30).

As of right now this place has 5 units, may try to take the sweep, but these 2 are the prize units.

Silent bids at my favorite place where storage wars prices are not found.

Anyone think I can pull these heavy hitters down

Why are big items so much easier to sell quickly?

My bigs are nothing special but I swear I get double and triple the emails on big furniture at decent prices then I do on clothes at great prices for nice jeans and such.  What gives?

I ask because I overbid on one unit(by about $35) but the bigs are going to get me outta my overpaying.

It just amazes me.

Btw, scores from the last 2 units are a pair of Coogi Jeans and Jean Jacket(on eBay) netgear NIB router, JP printer(looks new) bunch of Art Van furniture(partical board, but still!), more lamps, clothes and shoes for my huge ass garage sale I'm going to hold in march(yeah glad I have Totes to hold those smalls).  One piece of .925.

The bad, bread that turned to black mush, dropside crib involved in recall, junk f'ing mail, I know where the gold in this unit is, dumb fugg pawned it, unless it's in the two baskets I haven't gone through yet(I know don't expect it, lol).

The Treasure Chest / Estate Sales
« on: November 26, 2011, 09:49:20 PM »
I love em.

Think I got about 3/4 of an ounce of 14K Gold.  I'm going to get them checked monday, but I already know one is 14K for sure!

The price for all this gold $6.

Then went to another estate sale and probably picked up roughly 2K in art for 70 bucks.  As scores go, today was the best!

South West / Whats the auction life in DFW area like?
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:09:57 AM »
Lets just say I may be moving down to Fort Worth within the next 8-10 months, whats the scene down there like?  Up here I have a sweet spot, do they exist down in DFW(Not asking where just if they exist)?  What are the auction bidder and lookey loos like?  I ask because some auctions here get 20 bidders and 80 or so lookers and some have 10 bidders and no lookers.  What are prices like? Here I see routine $300-1000 bids, so just curious if I can expect the same down south?

Stories about Storage Auctions / OMG, Saw the worlds dumbest lady today!
« on: November 08, 2011, 07:31:16 PM »
Went to Wayne Blairs auction today and umm were the first 4 stops a riot.

Prices - This is Wayne Blair, he brings in Cali prices on a Michigan burget and market.

People - Plenty, at least 50 or more every stop!

and then this one lady!

So me and my pops(he is my 2nd hand man in this) roll to the first stop about 20 minutes early.  People show up and park in Storage parking lot until it is full then people pull to overflow parking down the street.  Well 5 minutes before the auction starts this lady rolls up and parks in the middle of the driveway, blocking entry and exit.  She gets out and people tell her she can't block the exit, she goes and signs in anyways, then gets told to move her car again and does.......................into the space left for handicap people to get in and out of(you know, not the actual spot but the loading area).

Next Place she doesn't even park in a space...................no she parks in front of the trash bin and it's trash day(she got killed for that one.

Next Place - Guess she learned how to park at this place, but that still didn't stop us from just piling on her!

Last Place I saw here she in a handicap spot without a handicap sticker and she was parked half in the space and you guessed it half of the handicap loading zone.  She was ummmmmmmmmmmmmm a total newb, nd really surprised she didn't overbid a unit the way she was!

Other then that, the normal way overbid on these units.  Like $350 showing bids at $900.

Oh well, got a killer unit I am going to bid on on this week.

eBay / Anyone know anything on buyer001*? Am I screwed?
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:11:20 PM »
Appears to have some sort of hold company or buyer in Cali who then ships to China.  Very nervous about accepting a payment from this buyer.  No payment yet, what to do?

Since I have never had to do this before, can simply just refuse his payment with refund of cash and go to next highest bidder, or am I screwed into allowing this buyer to purchase the item?

I am already for future notice putting this buyer on my block list, but for know what do I do, what can I do?

The Treasure Chest / Got a 10x30
« on: October 07, 2011, 07:18:50 PM »
Got the 10x30 I showed everyone the other day. In the dressers so far I've doing stamps, ball cards, and coin proof sets, a AT&T wireless modem thumbdrive, a meggelan, a few watches, and have only scratched the surface.

General Storage Auction Talk / Placing a value on the unseen on 10x30's
« on: October 03, 2011, 08:05:36 AM »
I have a sealed bid coming up on Friday again(same place where I won my first unit), and I am wondering how to bid a 10x30 pack decently with lots of dressers, I am wondering how much of the x factor $ mark to place on the unit for things not seen. I can share the picture but I don't want to be that guy that always asks about sealed bid units.

If I lose the 10x30 it's cool though, as there is a stuffed 10x10 with fishing poles and this really old sweet 50's back rubbing device. Again I'll post a pic if you want to see it, it's one of those really cool fins.

General Storage Auction Talk / Exercise Machines and there metal
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:51:15 PM »
So, I got a unit yesterday that had an exercise machine in it.  Machine looks like half disassembled and is missing a bolt that connect the base from the sliding area.  Machine is drawing almost no interest and I am thinking to scrap the metal and try to sell the electronics on ebay.  My question is, how much money should I expect to get out of this?  I had no camera all weekend, so I am going to have to upload from my iPhone.  Bare with me, LOL.  I just need to get out of this unit, it was a loser unit, everything besides the bar is broken.  I amhoping to turn a small profit, but for this crap I'd be happy to break even.

Storage Auctioneers / Auctioneers and the established long time buyers
« on: September 21, 2011, 05:25:21 PM »
Seen this more then I care to see at certain auctions.

Auctioneer today was auctioning off a unit at a new location after coming from a previous location.  Bidding continues with a regular and someone I have never seen before and regular is about to win the unit.  Then another long time buyer(His name is Bill and he buys everything, literally) shows up, Auctioneer stops in the auction and lets him get his on personal f'ing look, digest on it, then bid.  What do you know Bill buys it.

I have also seen Auctioneers wait for all her regulars to arrive.  This ***** takes forever and her waiting for all her regulars are a royal pain in the ass.  If someone isn't there at the advertised auction time tough ****, my time is worth just as much as Mr. or Mrs. Long Time Regulars time.  Maybe they will learn to get to the auctions on time or not stop for that cup of coffee and doughnuts between facilities.

The Treasure Chest / Theres pep in my step, got the first Locker
« on: September 09, 2011, 11:00:21 PM »
This one has a story.

First of all I payed $250 for that 5x10 I show a picture in the other thread.  I over payed by $120 bucks but I guess like everyone it is a learner unit.  Having said this, I'll make money.

First few things I am falling in love with.

1. He takes phone bids.
2. He gives you A WEEK to clean out the unit.
3. I didn't pay sales tax.
4. I got at least 5 minutes by myself to damn near look at every item I could see in each unit.
5. There were 4 bidders total(after 4 showings) for 3 units in a metro Detroit area, and I thought the crowds at PS auctions were small.

Anyways on to the goods(I'll try to post pictures tomorrow, TIRED!)

2 Bombardier Ski Doo belt drives
The compound bow
Paint ball gun CO'2 canister
8 person Coleman tent
Basic Shoe/screw in cleets
Tools(some husky)
Holy 10 to 14 year old clothes
couple pairs of scrubs
Books galore
Some old looking sword thing with spanish written on it(rusty though
Some brand new shelving unit
A 10,000 Brazil note(Worth couple bucks, but it's sweet lol)
Some hand welded desk piece.
Fishing lure
Case that would be used to hold a coin collection

Disgusting finds
Slimy old fish
Food
Tampax

Tell you what I haven't worked this hard in a long time and I have like 3/4 of the damn unit to remove.

General Storage Auction Talk / Mattresses!
« on: August 31, 2011, 05:11:48 PM »
I know most people pitch them, but does anyone ever resell them?

Reason I ask is there is a sealed bid auction coming up next week that has what apears from the picture I have to be a quite decent looking Sealy mattress(unwrapped), that looks like it could be sold if I got the unit.

Since I know terrorbow is like my only competition on here, anyone also care to spit out a bid I should throw on this?  I have my thought on it about $250ish but anyone care to tell me if I am to high on a sealed bid or way to low.  It's a 10 by 10.  37 emails were sent out from the storage facility.

General Storage Auction Talk / Cars at storage auctions.
« on: August 28, 2011, 01:28:58 PM »
How much cash should you bring if you know a car is going up for auction?  Would it be impossible to win a Buick Grand Natinal for $3000 or $3500?  This is roughly half the price of a quick resale.  What is known about the car is that the owner is in Jail and wont be claiming the car before auction.

I want this car but don't want to not have enough cash.
