The Lounge / Package lost
« on: December 10, 2013, 01:31:59 PM »
Shipped out a package USPS 2-day priority flate rate.   It's been six days and tracking still just says it has left my local facility.

I don't really care. It was just some stuff for my sister.  Doesn't matter when it arrives.  However, I went with priority over standard at a greater cost so a bit upset.

So I'm at the post office and mention it, give tracking number, just inquiring.
Lady gets attitude and says "well, are you sure you put the right address?"

"'am?  Doesn't matter what address I put.  The point is that you can't tell me where it is"

"It's going to Dallas?  They've had a lot of bad weather so deliveries re behind"

"Oh, cool.  So its in Dallas waiting to go out?

"I dont know.   All I see is it left his facility last week"

"So your blaming the weather in Dallas.  But you don't know if it is even IN Dallas?"

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"F**k it.  What holiday stamps you have?"

Sometimes you just gotta know when you beat.  You can't argue with stupid.

Picker's Paradise / Anyone shop Goodwill Outlet stores?
« on: October 29, 2013, 07:23:14 PM »
I've been interested in going but frankly a bit intimidated from the reviews I've heard.  Guess its worse than a bridal gown event.  People are crazy.

The sell things like 75% less than stores and by the pound.   All just dumped in bins, dig thru.  Unwashed. Unsorted.

Anyone try?  Worth the craziness?

eBay / Suspicious bidding
« on: October 21, 2013, 12:24:02 PM »
There is a seller that all his auctions in the last 30 minutes are at $30-$60 then jump to $110+.

Not uncommon but then I noticed the same two bidders jumped them all up.  By the bidding history the same bidder, with a feedback of (5) has won 30-some of sellers items in pat 30 days.   Seems odd a person would by 30 pairs of cuff links at over $3500.   And that the buy price is always just under BIN price....but no sales AT BIN price.  And no feedback between buyer-seller.

I don't know but something seems fishy here.

WTF?    Guess they don't want to deal with small businesses.

Picker's Paradise / Nice pick
« on: October 06, 2013, 07:46:18 PM »
Picked this today for $10.
Beautiful hammer formed copper with dovetail joints, copper rivets and forged handle.
Thing weighs over 10 pounds. Stands about 20" and 14" diameter (Estimate, haven't measured)

Sorry, picture doesn't do it justice.  It looks all flat but has a perfect hammered texture. And not nearly as dull as it looks.  Really nice, shiny, patina.  All even, no streaks.

What do you think I should put as a starting price?

Oh.....Also got a yogurt maker for $3.  Because I like yogurt.

eBay / Learn your shipping options <story>

I ordered a new thermos off of ebay.  Didn't really get a deal but cheaper than store.   $18 with shipping rather than $24.99+tax.   Guy had "maker offer" option.   Tried $5, $6,$7.....nope.

Figured out why.  Guy doesn't know how to ship!   Little thermos, he stuck into a medium flate rate box. $15.25 to ship.

Would have been $3-$4 if he had just wrapped in brown paper then taped the sh*t out of it.  He probably could have shoved it in a flat rate envelope!

But I got my thermos.  Now I can have real oatmeal or wheat berries for breakfast.
Before bed put in with boiling water.   By morning its done and have a hot breakfast all ready!

Craigslist / Tires.....again.
« on: September 10, 2013, 12:18:27 PM »
I've got more tires.  From past threads you know I hate CL tire buyers but not many other options for moving them.  Shipping is way to much hassle to ebay.  Used tire stores give you pennies for hem.

Anyone come up with any other options since my last rant?

Seems everyone offers way low for used tires with near 100%  tread.   I thought three, low-pro, 255s that retail for $175/ea would sell quickly at $75/ea or $60/3.   That's $20-$25 per tire.  They still have the little bits of rubber knobby things stiking off them.

Nope.  Get offers of $20, $30....for all.

Or pity stories, I'm a single mom, lost job, tire is flat......wants for free.

Really, I get them free.   I'd totally give them away to someone truly in need.  And it's all profit so sell price doesnt matter but still...its principle can't get crappy ties for $20.  These are 60,000, v rated, all weather.

South West / Ya'll are more dedicated than me.....

What the fu....are you kidding me?

You stand around in this heat to attend storage auctions?
Maybe I need a few days to be climatized.  I have no problem being out but standing still, on asphalt?  Doesn't sound fun at all.

So?   Up in the PNW we are totally use to rain.  No big deal.  But rain = lower attendance, even tho they are indoors, don't know why.  To me, drizzle or downpour, wet is wet.  Doesn't stop me.

So do higher temps lower attendance here?   To me, 90 or 105......feels the same.  Is there a drop when the temp spikes?

eBay / Why don't buyers leave feedback?!
« on: August 24, 2013, 01:30:37 PM »
Since opening this new ebay account the only people that have left feedback is sellers.
This week I wanted to go overboard just so a buyer would leave good feedback and nada.

Auction ended at 2pm his time on Wednesday.  I had it packed and shipped within 45min of payment and he received it Friday at 9am.  I put in invoice and thank you note.  Packed it in foam and added moister packs.

What do I have to do to get people to give me feedback?

The Lounge / Problems posting?
« on: August 13, 2013, 02:30:19 PM »
Is anyone having problems posting?   Good 50%-75% of the time I just hang, never posts.  Have to copy, back out, re-reply and paste.

I'm 99.9% sure its on my end, my cable has been acting funny too.   But I don't seem to have this problem elsewhere.   Slow, but doesn't just hang forever........

eBay / Finally an eBay promo I can use....
