You couldn't have posted this last weekend!?
There was an estate sale and guy had dozens of unopened models.

Hate you.  >:(

 ;D ;D ;D

Damn! I could have posted this last weekend but I've been so busy listing them lol! Any chance of going back? I would!

Social media might be a friend for you here. Ask your Facebook friends if anyone knows someone in the area they trust that wants to make a bit of money. Give them something to send you your stuff and abandon the rest to the facility or just let the person have the rest of the stuff.

My wife is going to head back out and check them around our area. We stopped going for a couple months because we were doing so much better picking and clearing out houses, but the thrill of the hunt is a hard habit to kick so if the crowds are down then we will be happy to rejoin the fray.

Picker's Paradise / Re: New Goodwill Store in town

I counted them up the other day for a post in another message board and I have 27 Goodwills within a 120 mile radius of me (15 of those are within 30 miles). I travel quite a bit for work so I get to hit all of them fairly regularly. I found a 30" Superman statue at one the other day and a Scooby Doo waffle iron at another. I freaking love Goodwill lol.

Picker's Paradise / Excellent thrift store score

I was doing a service call in a neighboring town a couple weeks back and decided to stop in at a thrift I noticed for the first time. Was looking at the jeans and the shirts, purses, toys... the usual stuff. On my way out I see a shelf PACKED with model car kits. I knew a little something about them from building them as a kid and thought maybe I'd buy a couple and build them with my son. So I started to look a couple up on eBay.

After looking up 5 of them I asked for a manager. They had them listed at $4.98 each. I asked, if I buy them all, how much will you sell them for? She said if I bought them all, I had to buy them ALL. I asked what she meant and she took me in the back where there were 4 more massive bins of them. I said ok and asked how much each. She said $.75 each. I asked if I could peek in a few boxes and see if they are completed or are still in pieces. I noticed most of the decals were missing but I estimated that 99% of them hadn't been touched other than to remove the decals (turned out I was right). Ended up buying 160 kits for $120.00 +tax.

Took them home, opened them up, photographed them and started putting them on eBay. It's been two weeks now, we've sold about 25 of them and I'm looking at a $780.00 paypal balance! /happydance

Something I've learned from this experience. The decal sheets sell for upwards of 10.00 by themselves. In addition to that, certain parts from the kit can be sold individually too. For example, wheels and tires and hubs, motors, roll cages, bodies, seats, and accessories like spoilers or pets or phones, chrome parts, the list goes on and on... all these items sell by themselves for anywhere from $2.00 (chrome mirrors from an incomplete set) up to $25 (Cragar rims with redline goodyears)! Spoilers, bumpers, freaking gas caps all of it!

Which led me to one last thing. I thought, hell if I can sell the individual pieces like that, why not go buy a model and part it out. When I was a kid they were 8.00 all day at wal-mart. Now, wal-mart doesn't even sell them and the stores that do want 18.00-100.00 PER kit!

Nah, the ash getting on me is what would piss me off too. Not it being somebodies taint.

No errors on my end. I'm using Vista Ultimate SP2 with a 64 bit setup if that helps. Also using firefox as my browser, but I opened it with Explorer, Safari, Opera & Chrome as well.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Auction House no longer taking junk!

We go to one in Kentucky and the audience seems to be shifting there as well but in the opposite direction. Started out we bought a table for 3.00, a chair for 7.00 and a rocker for 14.00. The other stuff was selling dirt cheap too. Last weekend they had a hutch with a drawer in it that didn't belong (hell it didn't even match colors) that sold for almost 100.00!! They have "new" nights where they sell off anything and everything that's still in it's package and they were selling Little Debbie doughnut bags marked $1.99 for $3.00! Seems like the storage unit buyers are shifting momentum towards trying to pick.

Honestly (irony incoming) I'd risk selling bootleg movies if the consequences weren't so damn high! But for 5.00 I'm going to risk 10yrs prison and hundreds of thousands in fines? Negative.

That's the one thing the MPAA, Studios and the SAG have done right in this whole digital nightmare that has become their Achilles heel.

Cougars, Bears & Gators oh my!

I'll stick to Nashville where we just have to worry about bangers, crackheads and newbies. Two of which my gun can take care of unlike gators and bears.

Good info, thanks. I have about 350 packaged 15' cat5E cables @ 0.00 cost I might use to play on Amazon with.

Seconding the phone app. I wear that thing out. Make sure after you do your initial search to go in and refine it and turn on completed items so you know what the item SELLS for, not what people list it for.

heh I might have. Once she teaches me the in's and out's I might post something in the other forms of buying section. I had a lady at the flea sell me diabetic testing strips for 1.00 a box because her insurance let her have way more than she needed. No telling where they get this stuff from but you are more than likely right about it being stolen. Couponing is too much work for a lot of people lol.

Sunday girl calls on table. Told her I could meet Monday before noon or anytime the rest of week, gave my addy (don't like that but since I can't drive right now...)
Doesn't show. Emailed. Called. No reply.
Tue night wantd go meet. Then doesn't show.
Wed morn at 6am calls! Sounded drunk. Wantd to meet at 2pm. This time calls to cancel....at 3:30!
Tonight she just shows up!
Table asking price is $40. Doesn't even look at it before she says it's only worth $15. I say: really? You can tell that from the ONE picture I posted. (should add that the only reason I posted it was I was trying to sell to another guy for $20 and wanted to show him I had it posted at $40, "what a deal I'm give'n ya!" thing)
She looks says it's crap, I say good bye. But then she gets huffy about driving out and my add said it's this and that....long story short, she wasn't even at the right house! lol
She had been dick'n me around while she scoped out other tables and then came to my addy on accident!
Finally I agree on $25. At which she gets in her car and lifts the hatch and stares at me. After a few minutes she asks "well, aren't you going to load it!?"
Here I am in a full imobolization sling and she expects me to somehow get a table three feet up into a tahoe!

Glad you had a good one, I'm still getting CZl crazies!!

We had one similar. Was giving us crap about this and that. Decided to meet at a Kroger. I pulled up and took the table out of the truck. She had a Denali (seats laid down and whatever). She looks it over, asks if I'll take 70.00 told her no since I had to drive to meet her so she gave me the 80.00 I wanted. She said "I expect you will load it for me since I paid you 80". When she turned her back to walk back to her truck I got in mine and left. :D
