eBay / Re: WOW, PowerSeller Discounts Really Add Up!!!
« on: December 02, 2012, 12:23:39 PM »
The savings you seem to be talking about are in your shipping IF you follow through on the approach you mentioned above. IMO the savings on final fees don't amount to a hill of beans.

I wonder if it's the type of items you sell on eBay where you have nightmare stories from buyers. I have had a few minor issues come up, but in almost every case, it was my fault and I had to make good on it somehow. I have to date not run into a buyer that has been trying to scam me or use an item and then try to return it within the 14 days. In fact, I've only had one request from someone to return an item, and it was after they left me positive feedback, so I said no and worked out their issue with them.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: How much time to clean out a locker ?

The average here seems to be 48 hours, and sometimes longer if it's a bigger unit (having different lengths based on the size and quantity in the unit).

So far, I haven't seen a facility not take them. I'm guessing it's because they can take them for storage units, why not for auctions too?

Storage Facilities / Re: No children at storage auctions?
« on: November 29, 2012, 11:45:00 AM »
Here, it doesn't look like any of the places I've been to have rules about children. I've seen everything from babes in arms to teenagers at the auctions, although I've never seen a teenager bid and there might be some legalities about being a certain age to bid here. I haven't taken my kids, though, because they would annoy the heck out of me and I would be less effective. :)

What's it Worth?? / Re: Expertise in Board Games

I do buy. What kinds of prices are you putting on the games? Is it at yard sales you are trying to buy them?

Incomplete games are definitely scary and it's one of those things I have to be careful of. If I'm buying a ton of games, I don't stand there and count pieces, so I have to get them really cheap. If I'm only buying one or two, I'll check them for completeness.

Do you have a sampling of the names of the games you are holding onto?

This thread is so full of win.  ;D

I'm glad you enjoy reading the forums. It sounds like you and I do a lot of the same things, although I stay away from guns. I prefer sourcing at yard sales and thrift stores over storage auctions, but I do like the occasional storage auction if I haven't had time on the weekends to get out and source product. :) Thank you for your first post!

After doing a lot of thinking, I can make more money hitting up the thrift stores and buying items from them and going to the few yard sales that there are going to be that weekend, and be a lot less frustrated with people, than if I went to Black Friday sales. So the value just isn't there for me.

The shaved head is Jerrod and his wife is Brandi. They do feel somewhat authentic when it comes to a couple, so I enjoy them too. My personal favorite is Barry, though, because you never know what kind of nutty thing he is going to do and I think he only does it about 10% of the time for the show. I think he's actually that eccentric.

eBay / eBay selling up and down
« on: November 16, 2012, 12:04:07 PM »
Hey folks,

Thought I'd post my observations and see if anyone out there has any of their own.

My personal observations are that right before the 1st and 15th, sales seem to slow down for a couple of days then pick back up right after those dates. Also, Election Night is a bad night to end auctions on.

Another thing I note is that Sunday nights seem to be a great night to end auctions on.

Any observations y'all want to add?

So I would imagine that the board game niche does really well around Christmas and you probably sell a lot more of your common inventory?

Yes, I'm already seeing a boost right now with sales of games I've had in my inventory for a while. Vintage games and collectible games sell year round easily because of the collector's market.

If the Battleship is in mint condition, from 1998, complete, it's worth anywhere from $10-15. More if you can sell it locally and not have to ship it. The Aggravation from 1982 is a little more valuable. The condition is a little more lenient since it's got more age on it. Without pictures or seeing it myself, it's hard to say exactly how much. If the box is damaged, I'd say it's worth about $15. If the damage is just normal shelf wear, you can probably get $25 for it.

Feel free to post pictures and I can rate the condition for ya. Older games are bought by collectors, and they are super picky, condition really matters.

Was wondering if you could help me out, I got 3 games at a estate auction this weekend. I got battleship orginal in mint condition, aggravation which some corners messed up and trival pursuit master game-genius edition which has never been opened. Any info will help.

Sure thing. What are the years on the Battleship and the Aggravation? So the Trivial Pursuit, is it still in shrink wrap? What's the condition of the box? If it's in mint and still in shrink wrap, it will have some fairly decent value. If it's been opened or the box has any issues, it becomes nearly worthless. Trivial Pursuit's are a dime a dozen (like literally, go to any thrift store and you'll see they have several copies.) If it's sealed in great condition, I'd say the value of it ranges from $15-30 - depending on the market and how long you are willing to wait for a buyer.

The Lounge / Re: Residents In More Than 30 States File Secession Petitions
« on: November 13, 2012, 11:45:00 AM »
It's just silly. 41% of Texas voted for Obama. Of the remaining 59% that voted for Romney, I would wager 49% of these people would think secession is really stupid. These petitions are nothing more than sour grapes from the part of the Republican party that the Republican party wished didn't exist, other than the fact that this base is pretty  much the only reason they sometimes win.

Update on the Game & Watch Manhole game. It sold for $305! That's my biggest sale on eBay to date. Scares the bejeesus out of me.
